We, being members of the human race, are filled with passion for all beautiful things. But, today most of us live in ugly cities that are concrete jungles. We seldom get to take a look at the beauty of nature. So we take refuge in our gardens. It takes a lot of effort to maintain a decent garden. The effort seems more than justified when we sit back and relax on our rattan garden furniture and appreciate the beauty.

Maintaining Outdoor Furniture

Maintaining outdoor furniture is no less hectic than maintaining the garden itself. The furniture gets dirty frequently and the changing seasons significantly reduce its life. Moisture is the biggest problem. It leads to corrosion and mould. Garden furniture generally comes very expensive and it demands proper care and a lot of attention. In coastal regions the metal gets corroded away very soon. Corrosion is also a very big issue in areas that receive heavy precipitation.

You would probably prefer to store them inside and struggle with carrying them around every time you want to enjoy the sight of your garden. Sure you can do that, or you can simply get yourself ...
... rattan garden furniture and say goodbye to all your worries.

Rattan Garden Furniture

Rattan is actually a type of palm tree that is found in the tropical forests of Africa, Asia, and Australia. Because of its durability and resistance to the elements of weather, it is the most preferred choice for making outdoor furniture. Rattan wood itself releases a peach colored resin called "dragon's blood". That resin was traditionally used in violins. Rattan is so strong and durable that it is the only acceptable material used to make weapons in traditional martial arts of Philippine.

Rattan has been used to make outdoor and indoor furniture for centuries. Rattan Garden furniture made from rattan is available in traditional as well as contemporary designs. It is one of the most popular furniture because of its wide variety of styles and sturdiness.

Natural Vs. Synthetic Rattan

Natural rattan is more resistant to damp and sunshine than most other materials. However, it is not completely weather proof. Prolonged exposure to sunshine may result in its fading. In case of heavy dampness, your furniture might get plagued by mould. You should keep your furniture covered when not use in use. For cleaning you can use a wet cloth but not apply direct water. It is advisable that you brush away as much dust as you can before using a wet cloth to clean the furniture.

It needs light annual maintenance. You should rub it with sand or stain and apply a little sealant. To protect it against effects of prolonged sunlight, you should apply a little amount of wood soap from time to time. This also protects it from drying out.

Synthetic rattan is made from man-made polymers. They are resistant to mould. There is no risk of discoloration due to prolonged exposure to sunlight. In order to clean the accumulated dust, you can use water without any worries. It is totally rain proof. They are available in resin base.

Outdoor furniture is the one most prone to wearing of. However, if you take proper care of your rattan furniture it will last a lifetime.
It's really a task to maintain garden furniture sets. But now you need not worry at all! There are materials available that not only are rust and corrosion proof but are beautiful as well. Visit Wooden Garden Furniture to know more about these durable pieces.
