One of the most common reasons for people to shy away from talking to others during parties and other public gatherings is bad breath. The bacteria present in the tongue and mouth are primarily responsible for causing this problem. There are many other factors as well that contribute to bad breath. Intake of garlic and onions also contribute to this concern. People who smoke excessively and indulge in spicy food have greater chances of this problem showing up. People who suffer from certain illnesses and gum diseases will also suffer from bad breath.

Now that we know the causes of this issue, let us see how we can cure bad breath naturally. The good news is that there are a number of solutions to eliminating this problem without burning a hole in your pocket. Let us take a quick look at few of the remedies that have proven to work successfully for innumerable people.

The easiest and simplest way to cure bad breath naturally is by brushing and flossing your teeth regularly. Most people brush their teeth just once a day without even giving a thought to flossing. It is important to remember that the anaerobic bacteria ...
... that give rise to this problem reside in the unreachable corners of your mouth and teeth. Hence, people suffering from bad breath should brush and floss their teeth at least twice a day, once in the morning and once at night before hitting the bed.

Do not undermine the importance of a good tongue cleaner. The bacteria that give rise to bad breath reside on the tongue and most often than not, you can see a whitish film of the upper layer of the tongue. It is imperative to remove this layer using a good tongue cleaner on a daily basis.

Did you know that rinsing your mouth with warm salt water can help? Use this water to gargle your throat so the bacteria present in the tonsils can also be removed. Doing this regularly twice a day will show substantial difference. Even if you miss doing this during the day, don't skip it at night. This is because you mouth needs more oxygen at night than during the day. And salt water rinsing and gargling provides oxygen which destroys the anaerobic bacteria.

Various spices can also be very effective in curing bad breath. Spices like cardamom, cloves and fennel have a distinct aroma that helps eliminate this problem. Since they also contain antibacterial properties they are very effective in destroying the bacteria that live on the tongue and mouth.

Giving up smoking also can help keep the problem of bad breath at bay. When a person indulges in smoking, the oxygen supply to the mouth gets inhibited and gives a chance for the anaerobic bacteria to thrive successfully. Giving up this vice ensures sufficient supply of oxygen which can successfully get rid of the bacteria.

In addition to all these natural remedies, you can also consider using a good mouthwash with an antibacterial lotion in it. This has proven to be very successful in eliminating bad odor and instilling confidence in the person.
