There are diverse eye problems which require medical attention. The specialist is the right person to show the treatment direction to the affected individuals. The eye problems can occur as early as childhood and thus there are many problems which can be rectified at a tender age. Keratoconus is an eye condition which is marked with the change in the cornea shape. Normally the shape of cornea is round and due to the condition, it starts to bulge and take the shape like a cone. As the light enters the eye, the cone-shaped cornea deflects the light which is on its way to the retina and hence causes distorted vision. Keratoconus treatment is a possibility.

The problem will not lead to complete blindness but is a progressive disease which will gradually degrade the vision and paralyse the normal life of the individual as it hampers clarity of vision. If the problem has been detected, then it is best to follow the advice of the doctor and keep a check on the progressive disease. The most common and effective treatment procedures to combat the growth of the problem are as follows:

• Scleral Contact Lenses has the potential ...
... to correct the vision problem caused by Keratoconus. These are gas permeable large in diameter contact lenses to cover the entire cornea surface and rest over the white portion of the eye. This helps in the correction of the irregular shape of the cornea with a smooth optical surface which is normal. People who have dry eyes are unable to wear contact lenses, but they can also wear the Scleral lenses comfortably.

• Corneal Cross-Linking or CXL is also one of the most effective treatment procedures to deal with the problem. It is a minimally invasive process which is very effective to keep the progressive problem at bay. It can strengthen the cornea and stabilize it. Through the treatment, the new links are developed between the collagen fibres inside the cornea. There are two types of CXL:
1. Epithelium-Off CXL is a procedure as per which the outer layer of the cornea is removed. This is done to allow the liquid riboflavin to penetrate the tissue in the cornea easily.
2. Epithelium-On CXL is also a procedure which allows the corneal layer to the left intact. This requires longer time for the liquid to load.

• Corneal Transplant: This is also a procedure which can be considered for the advanced cases of Keratoconus. When the vision cannot be improved by the above-mentioned procedures, then this one can be suggested by the expert. In this process, the central portion of the cornea is replaced by the donor cornea of the same size. It is an invasive procedure. The success rate of the treatment procedure is quite high.

Keratoconus Treatment is India is easily available in the premier health care units. They have the specialist and the technology to rectify the issue and make the people free from the condition.
