In the broadest sense, leadership means bringing people together and guiding them towards common goals. Anyone can command others on what to do, but effective leadership requires much more than the ability to assign tasks to a group. Leadership is thus that force that brings together the skills needed to do things. It does this by bestowing a some capabilities that involve the following. Leadership creates an Inspiring vision of the future. A vision is a realistic, convincing and attractive depiction of the position one wants to be in the future. Through creating a vision, leadership provides direction, sets priorities, and provides a marker, so that one can tell that he/she achieved what they wanted to achieve. They appeal to the followers by showing how accomplishing a task would satisfy their hearts. It motivates and inspires those under the rule. Leaders work hard throughout the project to connect their vision with people's individual needs, goals, and aspirations. Leadership is that which manages the delivery of vision of the people. It does that by fast placing performance goals that it links with the overall vision. ...
... All along, a leadership is about peoples’ focus. They are always good to people and use quiet styles that give credit for loyalty of service.
Leading is to a large degree contrary to managing. One distinguishing aspect of is that, while leaders have followers, managers have subordinates. While leaders inspire followers to work towards a goal, managers coarse subordinate to meet deadlines. Their style of authority is mainly transactional in that they tell subordinates what to do, and they just have to do it.
Personal strength and weaknesses
A leader should possess a good deal of strength many of which should be personal or natural. Weaknesses also exist. However, the strengths should always be up to counter the weaknesses of effective and desirable results to be deliverable.
Strengths are the desirable traits required for any leader. They include:
Team player. All good leaders have a slogan that no man is an island. They understand that they need other people in order to succeed. They thus organize the followers for particular tasks and ensure that every group member understands their individual roles. He communicates constructively and gives a chance to the followers to air their thought too, which he/she listens and pays respect too. The leader is also an active participant in activities of the team. They are fully engaged in the teams functions and do not sit on the sidelines. The success is therefore attributed to the team and not an individual.
Success oriented and a natural leader. A leader has a strong belief in achievement. They work hard to accomplish results within a situated length of time. They merry from success of a project and learn from mistakes committed. Though failures may occur, they do neither flop nor take it as the end of all. To them, a failure is a step forward. They believe that when they have eliminated the ways that do not work, they might find the way that will work and eventually succeed. A natural leader is thus not only motivated by success but also learns from mistakes.
Another aspect of strength is influence. Influential leaders are optimistic. They see opportunities where others see despair and uncertainty. These optimists refuse to let macroeconomic trends, booms and recession place hurdles on their imagination. Their influential character makes them motivational and people-oriented. These leaders are also naturally enthusiastic and in tune with other people around them. They thus enjoy helping and motivating other people and possess a natural ability to do so. Their influential manner always makes people to work out of their hearts and not through compulsion.
Weaknesses
One weakness is getting too sensitive. Too sensitive leaders take things to heart and end up getting too disappointed when things get done in the wrong way. They are also poor receptors of criticism. Their sensitivity makes them worry about things that they cannot control. They tend to try to fix things beyond their capability and end up worrying that they have not done enough. Moreover, they lack the ability to distinguish personal from impersonal. Due to this characteristic, they mostly overload themselves. Their strong senses of duty and perfectionism, combined with an aversion to emotional conflict create a moment of their overload. They try so much to meet everyone’s expectations, and they're own.
Another weakness is in getting too helpful to follwers. That implies crossing limits while helping followers or in a better term teammates. They bury themselves hopeful promises, thereby feeling problems of others as their own. That may make the core workers feel useless or incapable of delegated duties and may cause them to drop. In not careful, these leaders may spread themselves too thin and render themselves too weak to help anyone anymore.
