The alternative text or Alt tag is crucial for any images. This is because search engines are not able to read them. Canonical Tag

The Canonical tag is generally used when you have a single page URL with content that is the same with multiple page URLs. This is an HTML link tag and its implementation tells search engines which URL is the main page. This prevents search engines from indexing duplicate page URLs.
