Net curtains are more than a means of creating a greater amount of privacy in the home; they can also be the perfect finishing touch to any room's decor. If you are planning on redecorating any part of your home then you should read the following information to help understand how the various styles of net curtains differ.

To begin with you will need to consider your location, the amount of light needed in the room, as well as the rest of the decor. If you reside on a busy street then net curtains can be the best way to prevent passers by from gazing in to your home; in a quieter neighborhood the privacy aspect of net curtains would be less important.

Net curtains are often bought as a way of preventing too much light form entering a room. If you have windows which face towards the sun then you may often find the amount of sunlight excessive, for example it can cause glare when trying to watch a TV or use a computer monitor. The style of nets you choose should consider the light you need to be filtered.

When it comes to matching the curtains to your decor this will come down to personal tastes. The basic ...
... choice would be between a simple plain design and one that is more extravagant, i. E. With frills and patterns.

When comparing designs you will notice that net curtains fall into fixed categories:

Cafe style curtains: Cafe curtains are an excellent choice if you only want to cover part of the window. They do not restrict so much light or prohibit the view, yet still offer privacy. Typically they would cover the full width, but only half the height, of the window.

Jardinieres: This style of net curtain offers a greater amount of privacy than the cafe style options as they cover the full window area. They are often thought of as having a more elegant appearance when compared to others designs. Jardinieres would be best suited to a living room or bedroom.

Voiles: Voiles are a net style curtain which can reduce the ambient light entering a room to great effect. They are available in a selection of designs and patterns, from basic to intricate. They are less flamboyant than the Jardinieres.

Apart from choosing the most suitable design for your home you will also need to think about other considerations. For example the maintenance and cleaning; how often would they require washing? If you live in an urban area then your curtains can quickly take on a grimy and dirty appearance. For this reason you should choose a product which can be washed easily and dries fast.

The measurements are another essential consideration. Would you want the net to hang down below the window? Be certain to calculate the correct width as otherwise the purpose of buying nets would be defeated. Also think about how they are going to be attached, would they use rods or be pinned to the actual frame?
