If you have been promoted or hired as a manager or supervisor recently, here are some good advice on ways to make a mark in your new position.

When you're a new manager in a career in medical coding, your employees follow your behaviors closely; they may scrutinize every action of yours. But there're ways you can show your employees that you are someone they can trust and respect to lead them in the company.

According to Tom Schmitt and Arnold Perl, authors of Simple Solutions, here are some simple rules to live by when entering into your new niche.

Lend your ear to your employees. Just as you want people to listen and pay attention to you, your employees vie for the same kind of attention from you. Good communication with your employees involves you being a good listener.

Be approachable. Your staff should be aware that they can talk to you about any issue or problem without any hesitation. You should keep their concerns private and respect their thoughts and ideas. Their dignity ...
... is certainly important to them; as such, you wouldn't want to make them feel alienated in any way.

Show your genuine interest in your employees. Show that you have real concern for their welfare. You should even show them how to succeed at their jobs, and let them know why they have fared well. When you do so, it conveys the message to your employees that you respect them. In turn, your show of respect and interest will help you hold on to good employees.

Provide and take feedback. Not only will you need to reward good performance, but also need to take in hand any performance problems or failures. You should be candid about their performance and allow them to be part of the solution. Persuade them to provide feedback to you about a process or goal that they might not totally agree with.

Have strong players around you. Take example from a fellow supervisor who is well liked and effective. See how she handles similar situations and learn from her actions. On top of it all, a good manager needs to have self-awareness about her abilities as well as her misgivings. Make use of your strong abilities to adapt to each situation, and work on areas that are not your strong points.

The world of medical coding is one of the fastest growing in the medical field, but many would-be medical coders do not realize the full spectrum of employment opportunities. So getting updated and knowing more about 2010 cpc exam review
