Re-keying is when the tumblers of a lock are replaced to fit a new key. When a lock is re-keyed to a new key, the old key and any of its existing copies will not work on that lock.

It's never a good situation when you don't know who has a copy of your key, sometimes it can be because you just moved to a new residence and other times you lost one or you just don't remember who was given one in the past. There is always the option of buying new locks and replacing the old ones, but that can end up costing a lot of money. Our friendly locksmith technicians can come to you and take care of all your re-keying needs, usually in the same day, and at a time that is best for you.

Locked out of your Car?

It happens to all of us. All it takes is a split second of distraction and we shut our car door while the keys are still inside. Sometimes they are in the ignition, other times they are just staring at you from the passenger seat. Before you call a locksmith always check all the doors to see if one of them might still be unlocked. Also try to see if any of the windows is slightly open. If this is the case and you ...
... have power door locks, in most cases you can stick a thin bar or a stick if the opening is big enough and click the unlock button. If all the doors and windows are locked, don't try to shove a coat hanger or call the neighbor with the slim jim, no matter how tempting this may be! It is very easy to scratch the paint and/or damage the car door. The best thing to do is to call us or any other qualified locksmith to get your vehicle professionally unlocked. At Metrolocks we are proud of our quick response time and we will not charge you extra for emergency calls.

Locked out of your House

Today, when we carry so much in our pockets: keys, cell phone, wallet, quarters and more, it is easier than ever before to lose or misplace our house keys. Once you arrive at your home after a long day of work, the last thing you need is to be locked out of your own house, especially in these cold Colorado winters! If this happens, feel free to give us a call anytime -24/7 - and we will be there fast. At Metrolocks we are proud of our quick response time and we don't charge extra if it's an emergency call.
