One of the best ways to go through your mid-life crisis is by purchasing a sports car. Can't afford one? Then you are left with the single option of renting one. Luckily, the variety of sports car available for rent is huge; you can even get an exotic car or a supercar if you are willing to pay the money. Whit this article we will present you 10 of the most popular sports car rented in 2009 (the ranking is random).

1. Bentley Continental GT - this model takes you back to the roots of the Bentley Company when the famous W.O. Bentley manufactured very large sporting machines that won the classic Le Mans race. It comes with a 12 cylinder, 6.0 liter, twin-turbocharged piece of engineering capable of outputting 552 hp. It can reach 60 mph in just 4, 7 seconds and a maximum speed of over 200 mph.

2. Dodge Viper - need we say more? 505 hp V10 front-mounted, 0-60 mph in just 4 seconds and a top speed of almost 200 mph. This is the pure definition of true American sports car. When you say fast in America, you think of the Viper with its long tradition.

3. Lamborghini Murcielago - some consider it the most beautiful ...
... car ever built. Cannot argue with them at all. Let us look at the figures of this wonderful piece of machinery: it has a rear-mounted V12 capable of producing a whopping 571 horse power. It comes with a 6 speed manual transmission, just how race drivers want it - manual. It reaches 60 mph in just 3, 7 seconds and has a top speed of 210 mph.

4. Ferrari F430 Spider - instead of this model we could have left only Ferrari. Who cares about the model since it is a Ferrari, right? Well, since we chose the F430 Spider, let us look at the performance. It comes with a top-notch F1-style speed semi-auto transmission. Top speed is 196 mph and 0-60 in less than 4 seconds. All this coming from the mid-mounted V8 capable of producing 490 hp.

5. Spyker C8 Convertible - one of the most exclusivist cars in the world, only a few were produced. All of them are hand made entirely which stands for reliability and maximum quality. The heart of this car is a 4.2l V8 capable of producing 400 hp, connected to a 6 speed transmission. It reaches 60 mph in 4, 7 seconds and a top speed of 187 mph.

6. Lotus Elise - a true sports car with a long and rich tradition. The latest Elise model comes with a 1.8l engine and a 6 speed manual transmission. Top speed is 165 mph and 0-60 is done in 5, 4 seconds. It is a sports car for the budget-minded driver.

7. BMW M6 - the list wouldn't be right if we did not include a BMW, right? The M6 is a true sports car thanks to its rear-mounted V10, capable of producing 500 hp. It comes with a specially designed M6 - 6 speed automatic transmission. 0-60 mph in just 4, 5 seconds and a remarkable top speed of 189 mph. Pretty cool for a rental, isn't it?

8. Audi S5 - we remain in Germany because the S5 is another great sports car capable of reaching 200 mph. From 0 to 60 mph it only needs about 4 seconds, all this thanks to the front-mounted V8, capable of outputting 354 hp.

9. Porsche 911 Turbo - also known as the everyday supercar. Just what you need from a rental, an every day (super) car. Why super? 480 hp, 0-60 in just 3, 7 seconds and a top speed of 193 mph.

10. Range Rover Sport - is not a sports car per say but by combining a SUV and a sports car, you get this - a very solid SUV, capable of performing similar to a true sports car. It comes with a V8 front-mounted engine capable of producing 390 hp which allow it to reach a top speed of 145 mph. It only needs 7, 2 seconds to reach 60 mph and comes with a 6 speed automatic transmission.

So there you have ten of the most popular sports cars which were rented in 2009. There are others of course but these are the most important ones. Pricing values greatly from model to model but if you have the money, the right sports car is waiting for you to take it for a fast spin.
