You've crafted a career in medical coding alright. But has your request for a salary hike turned down again? You may feel you have worked hard enough at your medical coding job to seek a pay hike, but the raise has eluded you. Reason: You may have not asked for the hike properly.


But if you learn the tricks on ways to ask for a raise from your employer, a bigger pay check may knock on you. Here are a few tips that will help you in getting your much-cherished pay hike:


The first step is to do a thorough research, say for instance on how much a coder or biller in similar position earns. You can start your search by going through the recent AAPC salary survey. Also, don't forget to account for geographical differences and other factors that affect salary like certification, health care setting or specialty. That apart, you should find out if your company is financially able to provide its employees with pay hikes.
