Photography is not about the camera but the person behind it. However, with the advancement in technology, the numerous types of camera or photography devices have seen elevation and furtherance to the quality of photographs being clicked.

Not every picture clicked is a photograph

Looking at the world’s momentary craze to click or be clicked, it’s not hard to realize that anyone holding a camera cannot be a photographer. They can press the button and click a picture at most. The real trouble comes when it is about clicking a photograph which depicts a story rather than a picture which merely shows something. As per 2017 statistics, around four billion people use their smartphone cameras on a daily basis taking about 1.2 trillion pictures altogether. People calling themselves photographers these days; haven’t attended any sort of photography workshops or even the simplest photography classes. Unlike the old days, photography is no more restricted to the professionals or news photographers. It is everyone’s domain at this moment.

A photo tells a thousand ...
... words

“A photo tells a thousand words.” However, this doesn’t simply mean that the photograph will depict all of the thousand words together. Just like a written story with no grammatical errors, the photos also need to be structured in a brief yet coherent form. This skill is generally taught to the photographers in the subject of digital photography. Despite this requirement, today’s news photography all around the world is mostly redundant in displaying their stories to its audience in a correct manner. It’s a lot more than putting a camera on the face and pressing the button when you feel like. The journalists nowadays do not even care to carry a camera expecting their smartphones to do all the job of taking newsworthy pictures. They need to know that any smart device cannot be a replacement for the high-definition camera.

Why a Photography School?

Making someone click photographs without providing them with the proper guidance is as wrong as providing a kid with a laptop who doesn’t even know how to switch on its operating system. Photographs are supposed to tell the story of itself not giving people the option to decipher the story from the jumbled mess. A photography school is a correct place to learn shooting the chaos in a beautiful form. The photographers make compelling pictures even out of the most uninteresting moments. While centuries were spent in teaching people the proper sense of grammar; taking some time off in teaching them photography, will be worthwhile as well. It is all about the art of observing; not the things you see but the way you see them.

Things to look for while selecting photography school

• Location
• Reputation
• Curriculum
• Teaching staff
• Course Fees

Also you can check the reviews of the photography school online or check what the ex-students have to say before enrolling for the course in a specific school. Affordability is also one aspect that needs looking into as some photography schools charge exorbitant rates.

Conclusion

In today’s everyone-is-a-photographer world, most pictures clicked are actually uneducated imaging. Because of these, people have started accepting the ordinary to be normal. They need to gain the proper knowledge to appreciate the extraordinary. They need to study the difference between pictures to understand who’s a photographer. Photographers do not generally take photographs; they make it.
