Bangalore is the capital of the Karnataka state situated in the southern part of India. The city is often referred as the 'IT City' as Bangalore is home to a developing IT industry. Bangalore is a cosmopolitan city that exhibits diverse culture and tradition. The city is also known as the 'Garden City' as Bangalore is home to several gardens and parks. This city is often called the 'The Pensioner's Paradise'. The nice climate throughout the year makes many investors in India and abroad to start up several companies especially in the field of Information Technology. Bangalore, officially called Bengaluru, is a fast growing industrial city in Asia.
The legend shows the name Bengaluru is derived from benda-kaal-uru which means the place of boiled beans. The story behind the name is that the tired and hungry king Veera Bhallala II lost his way in a forest and was offered boiled beans by a poor old lady. Happy and satisfied by the hospitality of the lady, he called the place the name benda-kaal-uru and later renamed asBengaluru. Bangalore was under different rulers and the British took over the city from Krishnaraja Wodeyar II. Wodeyars contributed much to the development of Bangalore like gardens and parks but the modern facilities were built during the British rule.
Tirupati, a busiest pilgrim center in the country, is located in the district of Chittoor in Andhra Pradesh. The city of Tirupati is situated on the foothills of Eastern Ghats and is famous for Sri Venkateshwara Temple. The Lord of the Tirupati Temple, Sri Venkateshwara (Vishnu), is believed to be a god who gives everything on praying. Businessmen start their businesses by making Balaji as their partner and they pay a share of their profit to the lord annually. The devotees offer gold and other valuables to the lord and this temple is considered the richest temple of the country.
Bangalore can be reached by air, rail and road. Direct flights are available from Tirupati to Bangalore. These tickets areavailable at a cheap rate.
Several trains pass through Tirupati to Bangalore. Bhubaneshwar Express, Yeswantpur Hatia Exp, Yeswantpur Tata Express, Sheshadri Express and Yeswantpur Howrah Express pass through Bangalore. Train journey is comparatively cheaper as well as comfortable.
One of the best options to reach Bangalore from Tirupati is to take a bus. The Andhra Pradesh State Road Transport Corporation (APSRTC) and private buses run express, luxury, and hi-tech buses daily from Tirupati to Bangalore. Karnataka State Transport Corporation (KSRTC) buses also ply from Tirupati to Bangalore.

Manali, a popular hill station located in the district of Kullu in Himachal Pradesh, is a boon to the country. Situated at an altitude of about 1950 m above sea level, Manali is bestowed with natural beauty and snow-capped mountains. The city has a lot of flower and fruit orchards with green and red apples. Manali, covered with beautiful pine and deodar trees, has pristine rivers with rocks to unwind and refresh its visitors. The literal meaning of the name Manali is the ‘Alaya of Manu' which means the ‘Abode of Manu', who was the law provider.
Manali is also considered to be the abode of the Saptarishi (the Seven Sages). The city of Manali can be enjoyed at any time of the year as it has a cool climate all around the year. Tourists visit this place in summer to get respite from the oppressive heat. Manali is a popular tourist destination for honeymooners. Shimla, also known as Simla, is a much popular hill station in the northern part of India. Situated at an altitude of 2,205 m above sea level, Shimla, also known as the 'Queen of Hill Stations', is the capital city of Himachal Pradesh. Shimla was the former summer destination for the British during their rule. The wonderful climate, fruit and flower plants, the snow-capped mountains and evergreen valleys attract the tourists to this paradise city. Kalka-Shimla railway line is a famous landmark of the city of Shimla. Tourists can enjoy several activities like trekking and mountaineering in Shimla. Shimla Mall is a popular shopping place situated in the heart of the city.
Manali can be reached only by road as the city does not have an airport. The nearest airport to Manali is Bhuntar Airport in Kullu. There are no direct trains to Manali from Shimla. Koti is the nearby station to connect to Shimla. Shimla Kalka Pass connects Shimla to Koti which takes more than four hours.
Bus and taxis are the best mode of transport to travel Shimla to Manali. There are frequent sleeper buses available that take around Rs. 500/- for a trip.
Taxis charge Rs. 5500/- to reach Shimla to Manali. This cab is for four people. For seven people it costs Rs. 7700/- for a round trip.

Ways From Pune To Bangalore By: Rashmiranjan Patil
Bangalore, the capital of Karnataka, and Pune, a major industrial city are well-connected by rail, road and air.
The distance between Pune and Bangalore is about 1145 km. The travel time on road is about 17 hours. One option is to drive all the way from Pune to Bangalore. The huge distance between the cities does not stop driving aficionados to try their hands at the wheels. It is better not to drive at night as this route is frequented by heavy vehicles. One of the best highways, the NH 48 connects the cities of Pune and Bangalore. Some of the cities one has to pass through on the NH 48 are Khandala, Satara, Kohlapur, Belgaum, Hubli, Chithradurga, Tumkur and finally terminating in Bangalore. Being a main route, petrol pumps and hotels are found on the way.
There are several bus operators, both private and government, that provide services from Pune to Bangalore. Though tiring, a lot of travellers prefer the bus journey. Sleeper buses are more convenient as they run overnight from Pune and Bangalore and cost Rs. 2000 onwards per traveller.
One can also hire a taxi from Pune to Bangalore. The hired taxis charge from Rs. 15,000 to Rs. 20,000 rupees for a round trip, depending on the vehicle.
There are a number of train services daily available that connects Pune to Bangalore. The Chalukya Express (11017) departs from the Pune Junction at 1:10 am and reaches Yeshwantpur Junction at 8:50 pm taking a travel time of about 19 hours and 40 minutes on all days except Wednesdays. The Rajkot Express (16613) departs from the Pune Junction at 10:30 pm and reaches Krishnarajapram station in Bangalore at 4:20 pm taking a travel time of about 18 hours and 40 minutes only on Sundays. The Okha Ahmedabad Ac Express (19406) departs from Pune Junction at 7:30 am and reaches Yeshwantpur Junction station in Bangalore at 6:20 am taking a travel time of about 21 hours and 20 minutes only on Sundays. The Vivek Express (19568) departs from Pune Junction at 10:55 pm and reaches Krishnarajapuram station in Bangalore at 4:20 am taking a travel time of about 17 hours and 25 minutes only on Fridays. The Sampark Kranti Express (12630) departs from the Pune Junction at 11:20 pm and reaches Yeshwantpur Junction at 6:20 am taking a travel time of about 18 hours and 50 minutes on Thursdays and Saturdays.
Air travel is also an option to travel from Pune to Bangalore, as both the cities have airports. There are non-stop flights daily operating from Pune to Bangalore by different airlines like Kingfisher, Indigo, GoAir, Jetlite and Spicejet to choose from. Mumbai, formerly Bombay, is the capital city of the state of Maharashtra. Mumbai lies along the coast of Arabian Sea at an elevation of just 14 meters from the sea level. It is the most densely inhabited city of India and the fifth most populous city of the world. Mumbai is said to have been inhabited since the stone ages. It was originally built on a group of seven islands (Bombay Island, Parel, Mazagaon, Mahim, Colaba, Old Woman's Island (Little Colaba), and Worli), which were collectively known as Heptanesia.
New Delhi, on the other hand, is one of the most historic cities of the country from time immemorial. Boasting of a rich and ancient cultural past, it is a treasure house of historic sites and monuments and has a lot to offer to the tourists. Much of the modern Indian history is centred on this magnificent city. Being the seat of the Indian Government, New Delhi enjoys a privileged position, unlike many other metropolises.
An approximate distance of 1446 km separates both these historic cities from each other. As both of the cities enjoy great connectivity, travelling from Mumbai to Delhi is very easy. Mumbai is connected to Delhi by means of Air, Rail and Road. However, the easiest way to travel between both the cities is by air. There are numrous flights connecting Mumbai to Delhi on a daily basis. These are scheduled at different times of the day and hence a traveller can opt for a flight that suits his timings in the best way. Though easy and quickest, it is costly as well and so air travel is usually recommended for business travellers as well as for people who are in short of time.
The most popular mode of travel from Mumbai to Delhi is by train and there are many trains that ply between both the places on a regular basis. Trains to Delhi depart from 6 stations in Mumbai - Mumbai Cst (CSTM), Bandra Terminus (BDTS), Borivali (BVI), Mumbai Central (BCT), Lokmanyatilak T (LTT) and Dadar (DR). Likewise, trains from Mumbai arrive in Delhi at 3 stations -New Delhi (NDLS), Delhi Cantt (DEC) and H Nizamuddin (NZM). Dehradun Exp (19019), Ltt Hw Ac Sup (12171), Fzr Janata Exp (19023), Swaraj Express (12471), and Paschim Express (12925) are some of the trains to travel from Mumbai to Delhi. Advance booking of tickets is highly recommended, especially if one plans for travel from Mumbai to Delhi during holidays, and while travelling with kids and senior citizens, for comfortable journey.
