Mumbai To Delhi - Travel From The Financial Capital To The National Capital
Mumbai, formerly Bombay, is the capital city of the state of Maharashtra. Mumbai lies along the coast of Arabian Sea at an elevation of just 14 meters from the sea level. It is the most densely inhabited city of India and the fifth most populous city of the world. Mumbai is said to have been inhabited since the stone ages. It was originally built on a group of seven islands (Bombay Island, Parel, Mazagaon, Mahim, Colaba, Old Woman's Island (Little Colaba), and Worli), which were collectively known as Heptanesia.
New Delhi, on the other hand, is one of the most historic cities of the country from time immemorial. Boasting of a rich and ancient cultural past, it is a treasure house of historic sites and monuments and has a lot to offer to the tourists. Much of the modern Indian history is centred on this magnificent city. Being the seat of the Indian Government, New Delhi enjoys a privileged position, unlike many other metropolises.

... Mumbai is connected to Delhi by means of Air, Rail and Road. However, the easiest way to travel between both the cities is by air. There are numrous flights connecting Mumbai to Delhi on a daily basis. These are scheduled at different times of the day and hence a traveller can opt for a flight that suits his timings in the best way. Though easy and quickest, it is costly as well and so air travel is usually recommended for business travellers as well as for people who are in short of time.
The most popular mode of travel from Mumbai to Delhi is by train and there are many trains that ply between both the places on a regular basis. Trains to Delhi depart from 6 stations in Mumbai - Mumbai Cst (CSTM), Bandra Terminus (BDTS), Borivali (BVI), Mumbai Central (BCT), Lokmanyatilak T (LTT) and Dadar (DR). Likewise, trains from Mumbai arrive in Delhi at 3 stations -New Delhi (NDLS), Delhi Cantt (DEC) and H Nizamuddin (NZM). Dehradun Exp (19019), Ltt Hw Ac Sup (12171), Fzr Janata Exp (19023), Swaraj Express (12471), and Paschim Express (12925) are some of the trains to travel from Mumbai to Delhi. Advance booking of tickets is highly recommended, especially if one plans for travel from Mumbai to Delhi during holidays, and while travelling with kids and senior citizens, for comfortable journey. As the distance between both the places is pretty high, travelling by road is not recommended.
