Gary Shoats loves the thrill and the adrenaline rush one feels during rock climbing. He has been passionate about this sports and feels it helps to test ones strengthen and endurance. For him it is greatest challenge to prove himself that he can face anything in life and overcome all fears. From childhood he had acrophobia that stopped him to do many activities in school. Rock climbing always intrigued him so he began taking lessons to overcome his fear and go beyond his capabilities. For everyone it was a fun pastime or a weekend activity but for Gary it was a fight against all odds and acrophobia. He has done this from many years now but still has the chills that he felt during his first climb.

Gary says for rock climbing it is necessary that the climber is physically and mentally strong to take up such a sport. Jogging, swimming, running, and physical exercise are a good way to increase ones strength and stamina. In rock climbing there is more involvement of ones upper body hence one should do exercises that requires more use of arms and hands. This shall help to strengthen the muscles and make it easier to climb ...
... without getting tired. Gary Shoats feels that mental alertness is also a must in rock climbing as it requires quick and spontaneous decisions making. It is important that all the climbers are fast and active to hold and grasp the rocks to keep moving ahead. The slightest error or delay in deciding may pose a threat to ones life.

Gary Shoats says first rock climbing sessions are tiring and is brutal as one does not have the strength or stamina. But with practice and regular exercise it starts getting better. It is a risky sports but with the use of right equipment and precision on can make sure maximum safety and no risk to life. Before a climb  it is necessary that the climber has all the safety gear along with a first aid kit to make it an enjoyable and safe trip. It is a great outdoor activity and a fun way to spend time with family and friends and one should never climb alone it should always be done with a group or friends. He has done many climbs and has done them with the use of right equipment ensuring proper safety measurements that he advises all beginners also to follow.
