Not long before, I saw a film called the Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants'. It was shown in 2005 by Warner Bros. The film was major acted by four girls, and told the stories about kinship, friendship and love between them. The movie was adapted from a best-seller novel by Ann Brashares. The four girls knew each other since they were born, because their mothers acquaint with each other when they were pregnant during the same period. So the girls grow up together, and they share everything liking own sisters. In the summer of the girls' sixteen, the friends have to face separation at first time. They are unwilling to part, so they decided to go shopping before the sepatation. In a second-hand store, the good friends find a magical jeans accidentally. What is surprising is that the jean suits everyone of them regardless their variation in size. The surprised girls bought the jean and treated the magic jean as an object that contact with each other. They make it a rule that every one can dress the jean in a week and then deliver it to another in the month. With sending the jean by post, the girl should write a letter telling the next girl about her story in the past week. Four young girls spend an admiring summer holidays dressing the same flying paints. To the four good friends, communication is an easy thing before. But in the summer holidays, it is not so easy to contact with each other as the new condition and change. Sometime their information is lost or misunderstand. However when it comes to the most important thing, they will always find the friends who know them best, as well as find a way to share their experience, their moods and their humor. After the special summer, the four intimate friends realize the powerful friendship than ever. With the magic jean, some of them know the valuable of affection, some of them have love courage, some of them more determined to practice aspiration and ideal,and some of them more strong to face the lost. The difficulties of growing up turn to great because of good friends. The magic is not the pants, but there is someone company with you. It would be easy to say that the pants changed everything that summer.But looking back now,I feel like their lives changed because they had to. Some doubt remains as to whether the contraction "denim" actually came from this French fabric or another twill called "nim", also used in France at the time. "Serge de Nimes" was a blend of silk and wool, which leads some historians to doubt if this was truly the origin of modern day denim. Either way, the history of jeans goes this far back in history. Both fabrics grew in popularity, denim being the stronger and more expensive of the two. The major difference between them was that denim was woven with one colored thread (the warp) and the other white (the weft), while jean was woven with two colored threads. By the late 19th century, weavers in America were making twills in the same fashion as the European denim, adapting to the more readily available and locally produced cotton fibers. The material had a reputation for being very strong and not wearing out quickly, in spite of many washes. Jean and denim remained two very different fabrics, and were used for different types of clothing. Denim was used mainly for workers clothes and jean for lighter clothes that did not have such high durability requirements. Now denim is everywhere.
