I came across this piece of news recently and it caught my attention instantly. The lucky women with green surroundings have 12% more chances of reduced death rates as compared to the ones who have no form of greenery as in plants, trees or vegetation. Women living near areas with the most vegetation had a 41 % lower death rate from kidney diseases, a 34 percent lower death from respiratory diseases and a 13% lower death rate from cancer, compared with women living in areas with the least vegetation, the study found. (This study was carried between 2004-2008, with a group of ladies living in the US).
There are ample of reasons as to why living between a lot of greenery and vegetation leads to longer life. Lots of plants and plantations lead to more physical activities and social gatherings. This kind of healthy living results in lower depression, stress levels etc. As being close to nature, brain provides positivity and relaxation to the nerves, which results in releasing positive hormones, which are good for the health of the body. The release of a higher level of oxygen in comparison to the barren civilization is the ...
... source of lowering the level of pollution and carbon emission. As in the previous articles, it is stated that lower plantation and vegetation along in line with the increasing carbon footprints is the cause of death threat to humans.
Plants in Your Space
Based on several experimental studies, the presence of potted plants has been found to be helpful in many different settings including work, school, and hospitals. In particular, plants have been shown to...

• Increase attentiveness

• Raise productivity (at work)
• Improve well-being
• Improve perceptions of the space

Not bad at all. Considering all these factors, it is imperative that the stress levels will be reduced with having lots of plants and trees around.
What house plants were used in these studies?
Several different species of plants have been included in these studies. Based on my examination of the research, a few plants seem to be used more consistently, including
• Golden Pothos (Epipremnum aureum)
• Arrowhead Vine (Syngonium podophyllum)
• Chinese evergreen (Aglaonema sp.)
• Dracaena (various)
• Philodendron
• Snake plants (Sansevieria trifasciata)
• Peace Lilly (spathiphyllum starlight)
• Vinca Vines
Several houseplants do make in the list of plants of Nurturing Green. So buy one today to have more greenery around you.
Take-home Message
Relative to a barren environment, the research suggests that having plants around you is a good thing for your health, productivity, and long life. So, if you're feeling stressed or inefficient at work, get a plant. You might just feel better.
