The Stratosphere boasts the same high speed elevators and observation decks as other tall buildings, but this tall building adds an extra special twist. At the top of the Stratosphere Tower visitors will find a veritable amusement park filled with thrill rides. It is not the speed or the power that makes these rides so thrilling - it is their location. The fact that

these thrill rides sit perched upon the tallest building in Las Vegas adds quite a bit to the

wow factor. If the thought of dangling precariously over the Las Vegas strip, or riding along the tower''s railing on a roller coaster, gets your heart pumping you will want to make sure to make this unique amusement park a part of your Vegas itinerary.

Once you reach the top of the Stratosphere Tower you will have a choice of thrill rides to test your courage and your stamina. Here you will find rides like the X-Stream, a giant arm that catapults riders out over the edge of the tower, allowing them to dangle over the Las Vegas strip and enjoy some spectacular - if truly frightening - views of the area below.

Another popular ride at the Stratosphere ...
... Tower is aptly named Insanity. To get a mental picture of what this ride is all about just picture one of those claw games where you try to

grab a stuffed animal and place it through the slot. Insanity is just like that - except you are the stuffed animal and the claw dangles you over the edge of the tower at every conceivable angle. At one point riders will find themselves danged face down right over the strip, giving them a true sense of why the Insanity ride earns its name with every trip.

Riders will also find the Big Shot, a catapult type ride that hurls riders up above the tower at high speed, then drops them right back down again. After a couple of bounces the ride is over, but while it is going on it is quite a thrill. Riders are securely strapped into a chair for the experience, and that is a good thing because the ride creates 4Gs of force. Riders will feel themselves lifting up on their seats as they are catapulted into the air and back down to earth, making this ride a real thrill.

So the next time you find yourself in Las Vegas, take a break from the action at the gaming tables and check out the action high above the strip. The child in you will love the thrill, and the adult in you will love the fact that the casino floor is right below your feet.
