The Blue Mountains are blue because there is a distinctive blue haze in the area. The color intensity can vary from day to day, however the blue haze is always present. Making the Journey
There are two ways of travelling to the Blue Mountains by train. One alternative is to travel on a suburban train to Penrith. From Penrith you can catch a Blue Mountains train to complete your journey. Penrith is a pretty town and worth looking at on your way to the Blue Mountains.

You will see a number of attractions of the area, such as the Explorers Tree. This tree was marked in 1813 by the first explorers to cross the mountain range.
