Five Most Powerful Ways To Manage Your Team

As an owner, you must develop the skills to effectively manage your team to bring out the best results. If you happen to do the same, you can get the expected results and improve your business activities. However, team management requires you to be smart enough to understand your employees and their nature. It requires time and effort with a little bit of patience to start observing changes in your team. In this post, we look at a few powerful ways to manage your team.
1. HR policies and HR department SOP: It is better to educate your employees about the policies and business objectives of your organization at the outset itself. This will prevent unnecessary confusion and chaos. Brief your team about the HR policies and procedures which are followed by the organization. It is better to get it done while recruiting your employees. Otherwise, it may lead to unhealthy relationships in the future. 2. Job Profiles: Assign individual roles and responsibilities to your team as per the qualifications and expertise. Keep a check on their remuneration as per the trend in the market. Do not let your team jumble up on a particular profile as it may lead to creative differences among them. This will thus affect work tasks and will eventually lead to inefficiency. Try to shift your employee to some other department if the progress and performance are found to be unsatisfactory.
3. Reporting formats and frequency: As an owner, you must be very well aware of what is happening in the organization. Therefore, define reporting formats to get the business reports at regular intervals of time. This will give you an understanding of the business scenario. Get the status reports to your table regularly so as to be answerable to your client as and when demanded. Ask for risk reports (if any) from various departments to avoid any losses in the future. Keep a constant check on several other reports such as Board reports, Resource reports etc. You must also define the frequency of reporting (weekly/biweekly) to be aware of your business operations.
4. Review Meetings: Conduct regular meetings and review the work carried out by the team. Highlight areas of improvement and provide constructive feedback to motivate the employees. Give sincere appreciation for employees who have satisfactorily conducted themselves for the assigned job responsibility. Review meetings should be held in inclusion with an expert who is external to the organization. This will not let employees to get offended easily. Make sure to regularly review the crucial and viral processes so as to avoid any detrimental effects in future.
5. Implement a performance tracking system: Annual appraisals of the employees should be conducted by keeping in view the performance and productivity factor of every employee. Implement appropriate performance tracking systems to monitor the work done by every employee. Software’s like People Goal, BambooHR, Zoho People, Synergita etc are easily available and are efficient in recording the performance of the employees. Get rid of unproductive employees and replace them with new hirings. This will thus invite new, young and fresh minds in your business organization and may result in improvement. It will open the doors for growth and development.
