There are different types of drilling process. Every process has its own advantage and applications which are used in different conditions and situation. We will compare the directional and the horizontal drilling to see which one can be better.

Directional Drilling is the process of drilling which controls the direction and deviation of the boring programmed to the targeted location. Some of its applications include:

-Through Directional Drilling, we can create multiple wells and drilling locations from any entrance. Because of the use of single location to enter also cost low with less damage to the landscape.

-Through the directional drilling, we can also get drilling access to the places, which we can’t reach through the normal drilling or trenching process.

-The directional drilling also helps in making the multiple target zones. We can also make the multiple product zones easily through them.

-The directional drilling is the technique which can help in drilling without damaging the landscape. It can drill around different stops and obstructions.

-We can also avoid the fault ...
... drilling through the directional drilling. In many situations there is the risk of slippage or movement along the fault.

-There can be many problems involved with the drilling beneath the salt domes especially in vertical drilling. In this situation, directional drilling is very useful.

-This technique is also used for placing the pipes or drilling projects under the rivers.

Horizontal Drilling is the process of drilling where the direction of the well is horizontal. It is normally used to extract energy from the source which is in horizontal position. Some of its benefits include:

-It reduces the rate of sand production.
-It reduces the pressure around the well bore.
-It has lower fluid velocities.
-It can increase the production.
-It passes through lateral heterogeneity. Through this we can also find more information about the internal reservoirs.
-Horizontal drilling also helps in obtaining the oil from the flooded areas.
-It reduces the water and gas coning.
-It has the effective drainage pattern that results in the high rate of recovering the reserves.

These are some of the points. We can see that both of the drilling techniques have their own advantages. Both the techniques work in different conditions.
