Moving can be a stressful experience, but a Toronto or Brampton moving service can help the stress of loading and unloading all your belongings easier. But before you start packing up boxes, you should know what items Brampton moving companies and Toronto moving services aren't able to pack in their truck.

Government law prevents Toronto movers from transporting certain good and materials. Some of those items are obvious, like explosives and other hazardous materials, but some might surprise you!

* Plants: live plants are a potential risk because they can be infested with insects or fungi. If you're moving a short distance, it's best to transport household plants yourself. If you're planning a move to the U.S., expect that your plants won't be allowed to cross the border with you.
* Perishable Foods: you should transport anything that has the potential to spoil quickly yourself. Keep in mind that anything that's been opened is considered perishable, even if it has a long shelf life. Only items like unopened canned goods and unopened boxed cereals are okay to pack up in a sealed box for your mover.
* Pets: ...
... hopefully this is common sense, but don't expect your mover to put Fido's pet carrier in the back of his truck. Plan how to bring your animals, reptiles, or fish with you before your moving day.
* Valuables: money, jewellery, and important documents shouldn't be placed in a moving van. Keep your valuables safe by carefully packing them in your car.
* Speciality Items: not all movers are equipped to handle items like grand pianos, pool tables, and hot tubs. Before choosing a moving company, make sure they have the equipment necessary to safely load and unload everything you need to be moved.
* Fuel-Powered Equipment: this includes lawn mowers, weed whackers, and motorcycles. Your mover can only take these items if the fuel tank is completely empty, so make sure to drain them at least 24 hours before your moving day.
* Hazardous Materials: paint and paint thinner, batteries, aerosol cans, and fire extinguishers need to be properly disposed of before you move. Contact your municipality or search online for a list of disposable sites for hazardous materials.
* Flammable Items: this includes common barbeque items like charcoal and lighter fluid. It's best to discard those items at a proper disposal site, an repurchase once you've set up your barbeque at your new place.
* Explosives: anything that could potentially explode can't be handled by your mover. This includes primers, propellants, and ammunition. Make sure to dispose of those items at an appropriate waste site.
* Corrosives: this includes acid batteries or anything containing nitric or muriatic acid (you may find these pool treatment products). Discard these items appropriately before you move.

If you have any concerns, talk to your Toronto movers before your moving day. Professional moving companies will supply you with a list of items they can't move.
