The Rise And Rise Of Bootcamps
The success of bootcamps as a fitness and weight loss solution has grown to become very successful in recent years. Not all bootcamps are the same, and can range from military style exercise groups with ropes, tyres and someone shouting at you, to a few fun hours in the sun doing a wide variety of exercises that will keep you active and burn a lot of calories.
The success of Boot Camps has come largely due to the results they have been delivering many unfit people in the last years. The group exercise style of training encourages interaction between those in the class and this increases the enthusiasm and continued participation in exercise.
Many people who fail at losing weight through exercise, do so because they lose interest in their chosen form of work out, and either do it poorly or give up completely. When they return to their old routines, the weight they have lost will often return.
Good bootcamps also offer nutrition advice and diet plans to help their participants get the most out of their efforts. People who run bootcamps are usually personal trainers who have a passion for fitness and well being, ...
... so it is natural for them to try and offer advice about diets and healthy eating.
The strategy of many bootcamps is to vary the type of exercises during each session. They are often held in a variety of indoor and outdoor locations. The reason of this is to keep fresh interest about the exercises for those who are doing them.
Some exercises are solo, like all the classics like push ups and sit ups and so on. Other exercises however will be completed in pair or groups. The interaction is proven to strengthen the resolve of many people new to exercise and gives the feeling of working together towards a common goal.
Bootcamp schedules vary, mostly to suit different demographics in an area. High intensity military style bootcamps held over the course of a weekend will suit those who work nine to five during the week. However there are also lots of bootcamp style training sessions held during the week both in the day time and evenings.
The traditional bootcamp was a hardcore compact session designed to push participants to both physical and mental limits. Not all bootcamps are like this now, but generally they are more intense than a regular personal training session.
All the equipment necessary for the exercise is usually prepared by the trainer in advance, so there is no need to bring a lot of things with you. What is usually recommended are a good pair of running shoes, a drink bottle and a change of clothes.
For me, a great reason to join a bootcamp program is to fast track your way to fitness. If you have had a break from exercise, it is a great way to greatly improve fitness quickly. The regular strenuous exercise you will perform, combined with the wide variety of muscle groups you will use, helps to provide the fitness you need to truly enjoy other forms of exercise. It is also a good way to meet other like minded people who want to improve the quality of their lives.
I attended this funbootcamp Melbourne in Australia. It was a five session event during the course of one week and we did a variety of exercises. There are lots of bootcamps in melbourne and I would imagine it is the same in your city.
