Facebook algorithm main motive to show what people really are interested. Viewers see content that’s relevant to their Interest they’re more likely to be engaging with News Feed including some Stories from persons and business.
The Facebook Algorithm is different from twitter. It shows what you see in your Newsfeed is determined by an algorithm that changing the orders things based on what Facebook thinks you want to view.
Facebook’s algorithm works mainly to deliver right content to right people at the right time. User acess15,000 messages per day but able to see only 300 messages per day. Basically, this is how Facebook offers newsfeed algorithm for individual users.
Until 2011, this ranking system was referred to as Edge Rank.
Facebook’s original News Feed ranking system was supported 3 elements:
Affinity: what’s the connection between the user and therefore the content or its source?
Weight: Form of action was taken on the content? Example like, comment and shares.
Time Decay: what’s this date of the content? At Date was it published?
Ue=affinity ...
... score between viewing user and edge creator.
We=Weight age for the action comment, like, share.
de=Time decay factor based on how long ago the edge is created.
