Interior design is an art and science of enhancing the space for an aesthetically pleasing environment.

CEPT University is an established institute that formalizes the pedagogy of Interior design. It is considered to be one of the leading design colleges in India. Since its inception, Faculty of Design strives towards building a strong theoretical ground for the profession of Interior Design.

Design is considered as a cultural system that deals with several aspects of human evolution, production of culture and human imagination. Thus, designing is a course that brings together knowledge of several streams. CEPT offers a bachelors as well as masters program in Interior Design. The Master of Interior Design course is a unique combination of repurposing craft with the current interior architecture practices. This course is designed to achieve excellence in the chosen area and helps conceptualize contemporary design thinking and practice. The opportunity is to create and innovate in the global economy, drawing inspiration from the Indian culture.

The Master of Interior Design program cultivates and strengthens the designer’s acute sensitivity towards global issues and encourages the individual to act in accordance with traditional cultural convictions.

CEPT also offers two distinctive Post-Graduate courses under Faculty of Design - International Master of Interior Architectural Design and Master of Design (Furniture Design). Interior Architecture defines the immediate physical environment of a human being, encompassing spiritual, philosophical, mental and emotional relationships that connect man and space. While as a profession, it provides for the changing needs of an individual and the world since it forms an intrinsic part of human endeavour towards the act of creating, adapting and expressing.

The two courses - International Master of Interior Architectural Design and Master of Interior Design are quite similar, but the key difference is that in order to complete the requirements for IMIAD, a student must complete one semester-long international exchange with one of the partner institutes of their choice, and one two-week-long international workshop at a pre-decided partner institute.

The program was created to respond to the growing need for original and extensive research in the field of interior architecture and design.

The Master of Design (Furniture Design) is a practical response to the growing needs of the furniture industry. The program aims to prepare students to be a part of the emerging idea of India as a global, high-tech, high-skill industrial hub. The course addresses contemporary issues in design such as mass production, customization, future technologies, environmental issues and at the same time looks at cultural skills and techniques of design and making.
