Some level of anxiety is acceptable as it assists you elbowing forward towards accomplishing your goals but too much of it can be a devastating and paralysing process that only incites further panic among individuals, forcing them to focus on bouts of negative and dooming thoughts which gradually becomes a cycle of anxiety attacks. And if you have anxiety, you are most likely to be making certain mistakes which are making it worse. You may be just strengthening it without even being aware of it.

Counselling support can assist with anxiety in a number of ways:

A common issue with people impacted by anxiety is that they become ‘fused’ with destructive thoughts such as “I am worthless” or “I cannot do this task" Acceptance and Commitment therapy shows clients how practice diffusion techniques which defuse the power of the thoughts and lead clients to a being able to live a more valued and rich life.

Also people impacted by anxiety commonly try and avoid or deny the anxious thoughts or feelings. With Acceptance and Commitment therapy clients realise that trying to avoid or deny harmful or anxious feelings ...
... does not help and in fact makes the issue worse. Clients work on techniques of acceptance where they are asked if they are willing to accept the thoughts or feelings as they are and just a normal part of the human thought patterns. Clients learn not to listen to anxious thoughts, instead they learn to act or engage in behaviour that is in accordance with their values and valued life direction.

A supportive and engaged counsellor will assist the client to alleviate stress, feel calmer and more relaxed, improve memory and concentration, work on underlying issues that cause the anxiety and also adopt some strategic coping skills to minimise symptoms.

Online Counselling Services such as www.counsellingonline.biz are an ideal way to engage with a supportive counsellor through online sessions such as SKYPE. Online counselling is also ideal for working with people impacted by anxiety.
