Manipal University is the home to over 28,000 students from 57 different Nations. The university is located in Karnataka's Udupi district. It comprises of the world class facilities which are constantly upgraded and reviewed to reflect the latest developments and trends in the higher education. It is affiliated to the National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC) and has been ranked 97th among the BRIC countries.

Recently, the Karnataka university rankings have been released and the Manipal university has positioned itself at the top among the established universities in Karnataka. The Karnataka University Ranking Framework (KURF) was released by the Karnataka State Higher Education Council (KSHEC) through which 40 of the 52 universities were evaluated. In KURF, the detailed evaluation and audit of all the state, private and deemed universities are done.

Dr. Sheikh Muszaphar Shukor:

He is 1997 batch ex-student of MBBS in Kasturba Medical College Manipal. He is a Malaysian Astronaut and also a fellow researcher at Institute of Space Science National University of Malaysia (ISSNUM). He has been honored with numerous awards related to space exploration.
