Having a small cake shop with more than a fair profit suggests your competency in baking and managing it. Thinking that it is a small business, and the world, or rather say, the city or state you live in doesn’t need to know more about it is a mistake. To think “My customers are not online” as a reason to not have a web presence is to err. Giving recognition to your work and shop through web may boost your business in an unusual way. Not only the cake shops, any small business can grow bigger with the help of web.

According to Google’s 2015 data, 50% of potential customers who conduct local search about a store through smartphones visit that store within 24 hours and nearly 20% of them make a purchase. And, 69% of the small business websites have annual sales of $1,000,000-2,490,000. Well these are just the numbers talking. We’ll talk about why small businesses must take their business online subjectively.

Here is why small scale business must have a presence on the web:

● Internet is the new yellow pages
Some of us are still prone to yellow pages and everybody knows how handy it is, ...
... or was. Yellow pages is substituted by the Internet as people directly go to the web if they want to know anything, literally anything about a person, store, business, property, schools, etc. Say, you are good at what you do, and people recommend you, but if you don’t have an online presence, you will definitely lose potential customers. Today, people create a website for as trivial transaction as selling their beach house in Miami. All they would have done is hire a Web Design Company in Miami to make their sale a worldly thing.

● Your physical address on your web address is the new legitimacy check
Checking whether anything is legit or not is human nature, and the Internet has made this thing convenient. Just like online portals are expected to have a physical address for legitimacy check, physical location of businesses are expected to have web address to prove its existence, and because people expect it. Or else, people will often land up saying, “I checked it everywhere on the web, I don’t seem to find that place’s address, or whether there is such a place.”

● Website opens the door to marketing
Even the smallest of the businesses know how much billboards cost. Every business have had an experience of traditional marketing. However, times have changed now and you can market your brand, or your talent on Internet simply via social mediums. Social media platforms are the biggest bait for marketing everything that exists right now. SEO, blogging, PPC, etc. are some of the other ways using which you can market your brand, or store.

● Customer acquisition becomes easy, plus you get valuable data
Data is the most important asset for conducting business. Being online gives you the opportunity to collect data on your potential customers and acquiring or retaining them becomes easier which is not possible for those who do not have a website. It is obvious that every small business wants to grow, and that growth can be achieved by targeting and acquiring the right kind of customers.

● Webrooming is still a shopping preference
Checking the quality of services on web and then choosing to visit the place is termed as webrooming. This is still preferred by many people instead of ordering things online. However, webrooming is not limited to shopping, it is also applicable to services. People will check your rapport on internet via online reviews and then pick the best out of it.

For an instance, you teach surfing at some beach in Florida. You are not that big shot surfing schools, but are a one man business. Being a personalized trainer, you have a better chance of acquiring customers than anybody else. But, how will the tourists know that at so and so beach, there is a personalized trainer who is better at surfing than the professional brands available there? Well, they will not. You will have to hire a web development company in Florida to start building your web presence and let the world know about your existence.

No, it is not as expensive as you think if you choose the right web development company. As this has become a must-have thing, web designing and development is cheaper than the small business owners think. Don’t procrastinate, hire an agency and grow your business as dreamt.
