Guidelines For Google And Yahoo Search Engines Beyond 2010

I am writing this article to share with you some of my findings through years of Search Engine Optimization experiences especially after the recent algorithm change for the year 2010 and possibly for the upcoming years. Although most of my website traffic comes from Google , Yahoo is still a good source of traffic to consider when comes to optimization for the Search Engines. For the record, around 20% of my overall traffic comes from Yahoo Search Engines.
You will find the following some of the key things to know before you optimize for the Search Engines. These techniques alone have made my site ranked on first page all the time for country specific keywords.
Before anything happens, you need to get your site indexed by both the Search Engines. The best way to do this is not to submit your site to the Search Engines themselves. Instead, you should post a live link to your site on an active forum. This is by far the fastest way I found to get your site indexed. ... signature is good enough for the job. Some highly popular forums that I use are NamePros and DigitalPoint Webmasters forums.
After having your site indexed, the next important thing is your content on the pages. In terms of content, Yahoo put a slightly lesser focus as compared to Google. In order to rank well in Google, you must have relevant and rich content in your site even before you start to build incoming links. However, the relevancy of the content is not so critical when we are optimizing for Yahoo. If you are focusing on Yahoo, then read on.
The third important factor to consider is inbound links. Inbound links are also known as hyperlinks that other websites link to you. Many Search Engine Optimizers have been over-focusing on this aspect without knowing the real principle behind this. Inbound links work perfectly well for Yahoo but not for Google to some extent. If you want to rank well in Yahoo, increasing the quantity of the incoming links by writing and submitting your articles to article directories will do the job. Google, on another hand, is more strict because they look into the linking profile.
Google will not only consider the number of links coming to your site, they will also look at the relevancy. If both sites have high relevancy or are closely related to one another, you will get a good boost in ranking. On top of that, Google also look at how are the sites linked. For example, having a meaningful and descriptive anchor text will help you optimizing your site more effectively.
Moving forward, I believe Google and other Search Engines will start to put stronger focus on the content eventually and hence, my advice to you is always build sites that are rich in content and of value to the readers.
