Cocos Island, Most Beautiful Island On Earth?:costa Rica Ecotourism

Cocos Island is one of the treasures of the globe.
The renowned Jacques Cousteau often called that Costa Rica island the most beautiful island he had ever explored,
Costa Ricans have voted this small national park one of the nation's 7 Wonders, and it is currently being looked at as one of the Seven Natural Wonders of the World.
For people fortunate enough to travel to it, the island is truly one of the most unusual Costa Rica ecotourism experiences.
Even though it is a small tropical isle located just about 350 miles west of the Costa Rica Pacific coast, it is renowned for its outstanding diving.
Indeed, its waters are filled with fish, porpoises, whales, and marine turtles, and there are usually countless sharks, it is very often labeled Shark Island.
Skilled scuba divers visit here from all over earth because it is famous as the greatest place on earth to dive with great sea creatures.
The island is legendary for its pirates, authentic and imaginary, for hundreds of years.
Many believe that it was the inspiration for Robert Lewis Stevenson's ...
... widley known pirate novel Treasure Island but frequently actual pirates took refuge there to evade the English fleet and to bury their pirate booty.
Two great treasures, the Devonshire Treasure and the Lima Treasure, worth many millions of dollars today, could possibly even now be buried there.
Cocos Island is also the location for Michael Crichton's epic novel---and Steven Spielberg's blockbuster movies---Jurassic Park.
With the exception of a handful of Costa Rica park rangers whose task it is to guard its waters from illegal fishing, the island is uninhabited. Its remote location has saved its rainforest from depredation and right up until recently its underwater splendor was secure from destruction.
Just a few fortunate travelers travel to visit Cocos and if you want to go ashore, you will need previous permission from the rangers.
Overnight camping is not allowed.
However, it does not matter. When you walk the shores, looking out over the great Pacific, your imagination will be able to soar.
You'll be wandering the very shores that infamous pirates hid buried treasure and you'll not be alone.
It is almost as if a number of the boulders themselves can talk for you are going to find rocks and boulders bearing the thoughts and dreams of long dead sailors who left their own moment of history behind, writing their names, the names of their ships and ports of call, even the dates. Mariners, now departed but never forgotten by the rocks.
Like Kilroy, they were here.
Victor Krumm writes about tropical Costa Rica in his popular Costa Rica Vacations site. Costa Rica has so many things to do and see, so check out some of the great Costa Rica National Parks here.
