Without any doubt, Rio de Janeiro has to be one of the most exciting cities in the world for the fact that through the entire year different kinds of social events are being held for every taste, religion, beliefs and so on. There is no exception to this rule that is why January is just as exciting as any other month of the year. With this article and the follow-up, we will try to review the most important events in Rio during this month.

1. The 2nd Arts Biennial Of The Fine Arts School At The Rio De Janeiro Federal University - this event will get together in one place gravures, paintings, video, sculptures, performances, photography - all related to the "Antropofagiando O Criador" (cannibalizing the Creator) theme; This second edition will gather the works of art school's students;

4. 16th Fashion Rio 2010 - will exhibit Brazilian brand names for their 2010 winter collection, all gathered under the theme Rio, Olympic and Marvelous. In this event 6 new brands will come to life, making their debut on the Carioca catwalk: Andréa Marques; R. Groove; Nica Kessler; New Order, brands and accessories, Patachou, from the state of Minas Gerais, besides Lucas Nascimento, a Brazilian designer, who is settled in London;

5. Cultural Tradition Parades Revive Oldtime Carnivals - PRAFAC Pra fazer cultura will be sponsoring a parade right on the shores of Copacabana, commemorating the confetti and flower battles & sea bathing in fancy dresses, just like the carnival was in the 1910-1930 period. A follow-up to this event will be an antique cars parade with exquisite models from that time. More than that, there will be a representation of five live nativity scenes representing diversity and enriching the presentation;

6. Fashion Business Tech - will be presenting a total of 150 brand names from no more than 12 Brazilian states. With this edition, there will be a new pavilion dedicated to the technological solutions for retailers, implementing the regaining of the necessary business solutions. In the versatile area there will be a presentation of music pocket shows, dancing and theater. The inaugural fashion show will be showing the strongest tendencies for Autumn/Winter 2010, with a look at participating brand names;

7. Star Class World Championship - in 2010 will reach the 4th edition and will most likely attract the attention of all yachtsmen and is considered to be the most prestigious yachting event in the entire world. At the event, a generous number of well-known yachtsmen will participate: Iselin, Knapp, Petterson, Conner, Blackaller, Torben Grael, Marcelo Ferreira, Reynolds, Bruno Prada and Robert Scheid.
