Completed in August 2016, the Palacio de Congresos y Exposiciones de Segovia, Spain, is the city’s new convention center, housing an 800-seat auditorium. Once a royal hunting palace during the 17th and 18th centuries, the convention center now features an architectural glass façade combined with the original materials of stone and slate. The new façade incorporates more than 500 colorful and energy-efficient diamond-shaped glass panes.

The glass and systems: Tvitec fabricated the glass, laminated with Vanceva PVB interlayers in Sapphire, Golden Light and Cool Grey. The insulating glass units incorporate Guardian Industries Climaguard Premium for energy efficiency.

According to the architect’s specifications, Tvitec selected low iron and solar control glass from Guardian for other parts of the façade as well. Talleres Cejuela employed Schüco’s AOC 60 ST system for the façade.

“The result after this restoration is a modern and glazed interpretation of the highlights of the original building, customizing a program of complex and demanding applications,” the architects explain.
