The body armor vest is basically a protective shield that prevents projectiles from piercing into your body. In the present period, the personal body armor is usually referred to as a bullet proof vest. As the ammunition technology has advanced, so also has the development in the various kinds of body shields. Army men, private security guards as well as police personnel are the people who mostly use such bulletproof vests or bulletproof jackets.

How each kind of body armor vest is designed differs from one to the next. And it is not just the design but the kind of material that has been used as well. Kevlar fiber is one of the most effective materials used to make the armors or body shields in current days. The distinct characteristic of the Kevlar material is that it is very light in weight. But it is supposed to be as strong as the hardest steel available. The Kevlar fibers are interwoven and twisted one by one and covered with the help of other materials like plastic and resin. The Kevlar material has a high capability when it comes to absorbing a large amount of energy and hence makes for a very effective bullet ...

The body armor vest is available in many different types. The Soft bullet proof vest is commonly used by private security guards as well as police personnel. These are made from soft clothing and woven fibers which are then interwoven together to form a net. They protect the wearer from ordinary weapons and lessen the impact of the bullet by breaking down its energy. These bulletproof vests are not capable of protecting the wearer from ammunition of high caliber.

The Interceptor bullet proof vest is made from the Kevlar vest as well as some tiny protective plates which way about 16.4 pounds. These plates can be removed and serve to protect the front, the back, the throat and the groin. This kind of body armor vest is capable of stopping 7.62mm bullets from entering your body.

Then you have the Personnel Kevlar vest which is a kind of body armor vest or bullet proof vest which is manufactured using thick Kevlar filler. This kind of Kevlar vest has various sections to provide an even better fit. This kind of Kevlar vest has shoulder pads that are swivel shaped, a couple of frontal pockets, a ¾th collar, a pair of hangers to hold grenades and some butt patches at the shoulder area meant for carrying a rifle.

Then there is the Dragon skin body armor vest which consists of several spherical discs. The discs used are made from silicon carbide ceramic and overlapped one on top of the other just like the fish scales. The strange arrangement on this bullet proof vest provides greater flexibility and safeguards the body from several hits at once.
