Two Foods To Avoid That Pack On Pounds!

The two weight gaining foods that I would like to mention in this document may actually shock you... most people seem to think these two foods are good for you. In all of my time spent as a Nutritionalist, it often surprises people when I say they should think about eliminating these foods from their diet.
Everyone nowadays knows how bad trans fats and high fructose corn syrup are for you, so I figured I'd save you yet another sermon on those... Instead, read on to learn which foods may be packing on the fat which, might shock you.
The first item of food that is frequently thought to be beneficial is food that contains wheat... this includes most breads, cereals, bagels, muffins, pasta, crackers, and so on. And yes, I am including "whole wheat" in the list of this fattening food.
First of all, a large percentage of the population has some level of intolerance to the gluten in wheat and some other grains. Complete celiacs are the most susceptible to it, but what most people don't understand is that the mass of the population was never designed to eat large quantities of wheat. The human digestive system ...
... has never adapted to large amounts of wheat in our diets.
The introduction of wheat into the human diet has only been in the last 2000 years, and it has NEVER been in such large quantities until the last 80-100 years. This is a small time window compared to the traditional diet that the human digestive system used over several hundred thousand years consuming a hunter-gatherer diet of meats, fruits, vegetables, nuts, and seeds.
From my experience with many of my clients, when they listen to my suggestions and eliminate wheat from their diet for 2-3 weeks to see if they begin to drop weight and feel better, this almost always makes an enormous difference. Often times, they not only begin dropping body fat a lot quicker, but they also ultimately get rid of headaches and indigestion that have plagued them for ages. Sometimes even skin issues go away when eliminating wheat from our diets.
The 2nd example of the worst fattening foods that shocks many people because it is thought to be "good" is -- fruit juice.
Don't take this the wrong way, I'm not an anti-carb advocate per se... I actually think most fruits are VERY good for us. However, we were NOT intended to remove the juice from the remainder of the fruit and only consume the high calorie sweet mixture and ignore the fiber and other beneficial components of the fruit.
When you only swallow the juice of fruits (apple juice and orange juice being 2 of the worst culprits in the western diet), you are not receiving the appetite satisfying result of the fiber in the fruit, and you're left longing for more carbs. Also, the fiber in a complete fruit helps to reduce the blood sugar response when consuming complete fruit compared to fruit juice.
Basically what it comes down to... over consuming fruit juices makes you fat. On the other hand, consuming complete fruits with all of the fiber helps you keep up a healthy balanced diet and high nutrient density (as long as the rest of your diet is complete unprocessed foods as well).
