Virtually every industry has a grave need for accurate scales. Merchants selling textiles and farmers selling produce, along with a variety of other workers in a wide array of different industries, rely on accurate scales to enable them to determine proper pricing and correct quantities. Though there are a variety of scales on the market, hanging scales are especially popular in the realms of manufacturing and shipping. A hanging scale is a type of scale that is suspended by a cable or crane. Hanging scales are one of the scales of choice in manufacturing and shipping because they do not require any platforms. They are able to provide accurate measurements without a lot of large equipment that could get in the way and take up space. These scales are incredibly safe and durable. They are able to withstand quite a bit of wear and tear.

Hanging scales are very commonly used in the steel industry due to the steel industrys need to determine the exact weight of a roll of steel both before and after it is cut to size. Given that steel is typically sold by its weight as opposed to by volume, it is essential to the steel industry ...

The steel industry is not the only industry that can greatly benefit from the daily use of a hanging scale. Some hanging scales are capable of accurately measuring up to one ton, that is 2,000 pounds(Lbs). When looking for a hanging scale, be certain to look into the accuracy of the scale at full capacity. Several hanging scales with a 0.1% accuracy of full capacity are on the market, therefore, there is no reason to settle for a less accurate scale. Additionally, ensure that the numbers on the scale are large and clearly defined. A worker will want to be able to record the reading on the scale from a distance. A pushbutton tare is a feature that is common to find and amazingly useful, so be sure to ensure that a scale that you purchase has this feature. This feature allows the user to tare the scale by simply pushing a button. Scales that do not have this feature tend to require quite a bit of work in order to tare the system, therefore, the pushbutton tare is an important feature. Other hanging scales are available with larger capacities, including 5000 lb, 10,000 lb, 20,000 lb, and even higher.

Swivel handles and hooks are generally sold as optional add-ons to hanging scales. However, nearly all applications can benefit from having swivel handles and hooks available. It is usually much easier to manipulate larger loads with these swivel hooks. This is especially the case if the loads will need to be placed in specific places after weighing.

Ultimately, it is imperative that the hanging scale for your company meet the needs of your business. Though hanging scales are thought of as cumbersome, they are often the best tools for what they do. Other scales could do the job, but would not be as efficient or accurate as a hanging scale.
