First let's talk about microwaves, which just about everyone uses today. Cooking vegetables is so simple using this appliance. Now days you can easilyf steam veggies using a microwave proof bowl, n just adding some water. This means they can retain all their important nutrients as well.

You can also use the microwave to quickly bake potatoes and this way they keep their natural moisture so you won't need to drown them in butter and sour cream. You can also steam some broccoli as well and use that for a topping; when you add the two, you now have two servings of that Five a Day already down!

You can also use a grill to prepare vegetables and meet your Five a Day goal. Consider some veggie kebobs that ...
... comes with peppers and pineapples. You can add some lean cuts of beef or chicken as well or you can try them by themselves. Doing this your family will be satisfied with the meals. Remember to cook them over medium hot coals so they don't burn but cook through.

You can also make homemade healthy salsa to help you meet the Five a Day guideline. There are many recipes to making a healthy salsa or you can use the original, which is blending tomatoes, onions, acovados, cilanto, and a dash of lime. Keep working with your blend until you get it to taste.

Remember making your own popsicles when you were a kid? You can get your fruits and vegetables by making some now as well. The 100% fruit juices can be used to pour in the popsicle molds. This can also be something the kids would enjoy as well! Children often learn eating habits when they're younger so this can get them on the road to eating healthy for a lifetime.

There are many other ways you can follow the Five a Day rule if you utilize your imagination. You can add broccoli bits, carrot slices, and all sorts of peppers to any pasta salad.

You can also fancy up a tossed green salad by adding fruits and vegetables. Try spinach, tangerine chunks, grapes, diced carrots, apple chunks, raisins, bits of pineapple, and whatever else suits your fancy. Then your salad will seem very approachable to you and it will be full of many different nutrients. And they make it easier to reach that Five a Day goal.

You can even make your own salad dressings with items like fruit juices and flavored vinegars. Add in some herbs you grow yourself. When eating a salad it is essential to use the right dressing, because salads are one of the most significant foods to the Five a Day rule.
