With changing times the digital technology is changing too and moving forward like crazy, the desktop specific websites have changed to multi-platform accessible websites. Now, for the past few years, mobile growth has expanded and this growth of mobile internet usage will completely surpass the desktop internet usage within coming few years. These days it is hard to find someone who doesn’t own a mobile device or multiple, connected to the internet.

There were 3.26 billion internet users as at December 2015; that’s over 40% of the world population. By 2017, there will be more internet traffic than all prior internet years combined. And Wi-Fi and mobile-connected devices will generate 68% of all internet traffic by 2017. There are more mobile internet users than desktop internet users; 52.7% of global internet users access the internet via mobile, 50% of mobile users will abandon of web page if it takes more than 10 seconds to load, and 60% won’t return to the site. These statistics highly suggest that because a lot of time is spent on varying screen resolutions to look at a website, there is a need for responsive ...
... web designs. And with that comes the question of how to build websites suitable for all users. The industry response to this question has become responsive web design, also known as RWD, where we can access the web from a variety of devices, including smartphones, tablets, desktops and laptops – all at different screen resolutions.

Websites created with responsive design means that the website will adapt to a variety of screen resolutions, making them easily accessible no matter how you visit the site, via mobile, laptop, or tablet. Thus, to view different versions of a website on your devices – all of which conform to your screen, that particular site should have a good professional responsive web design. And therefore web designers have adjusted to this new environment by creating responsive websites using layouts that rearrange to fit any screen size. This guide below explains why and how to responsive web designs:

Why Use Responsive?

Most of the new sites these days now use responsive, which has been made easier for less experienced designers and developers, thanks to the availability of so many ready to use and easily accessible themes through CMS systems such as WordPress, Joomla, and Drupal.
Responsive takes much less work to both build and maintain but doesn’t offer as much control as adaptive, but Responsive layouts are much more fluid than adaptive, which means a fluid layout, can be adjusted easily for each user on different platforms.

So in essence, it’s usually a better idea to use responsive for new projects, so that whenever someone visits a site on mobile and it’s properly formatted for the width and resolution. Because when there’s a lot of scrolling, pinching, maximizing, minimizing and more. And it takes time it can have a negative impact on any business, or its clients.

How to responsive web designs?

Responsive images: The employment of this technique is to deliver optimized, contextual image sizes in responsive layouts that utilize dramatically different image sizes at different resolutions.
Responsive typography: Typography is about making your content easy to digest. And the use of Responsive typography ensures readability across a wide variety of devices and viewports.

Media queries: This allows you to apply changes to your site’s design based on the viewing size and the capability of all the devices.
Progressive Enhancement: A web design strategy that makes an effort to create websites that are accessible to all devices, using a layered approach with a set of principals emphasizing accessibility of content and functionality.

Flexible Layouts: By utilizing flexible grids and columns we organize the content and relative width to adapt the viewport size. And to determine how to effectively alter the navigation and sub navigation based upon the user's device.

Responsive design is the next logical step for your website. If your website isn’t responsive, it needs to be as soon as possible. There are many different ways reasons and devices that people access the internet and if we don’t get a responsive website then it will affect the businesses worldwide. So overall now, responsive websites are more acceptable than adaptive websites.
