Writing A Persuasive Advertisement
Every advertisement has the objective of selling something to its audience. There are very many advertisements all which are intent on reaching a given audience. However, if you are to make your advert memorable, then it is important that you are persuasive when writing it. Indeed, for consumers to be convinced to buy your product or service, then a persuasive advertisement is necessary.
There are many things that you can do to ensure that your advertisement stands out. However, your choice of words is very important if this is to happen. You need to choose the right words for your advertisement. How then do you determine that any given words that you choose are the right ones for your advertisement? There is no specific way of doing this but what is important is that you have to ensure that the words that you choose are powerful and influential because only then can they be memorable.
Also, you have to be conversational. This basically means that you should be able to speak to your reader in a manner that is captivating and interesting. Indeed, conversational writing gives readers the impression that you are speaking ...
... to them directly and they are likely to be drawn to your writing. To succeed in writing a persuasive advertisement therefore;
1. You need to write in the same way that you speak as by so doing your tone is likely to be replicated in your writing.
2. You need to get inclined towards asking questions as this is a great way through which you can involve your readers.
3. You need to use words and expressions that are likely to catch the attention of your readers as well as engage them. Examples of such words include; 'imagine' and 'think about' among many others. Indeed, such words and expressions help your readers to participate in your writing.
4. You need to put emphasis on the message that you want to communicate. You can achieve this by using capital letters, italic and bold among other techniques.
It is therefore clear that writing a persuasive advertisement is central to successful advertising. If your advertisement does not stand out from the many that are available, then it is likely to be forgotten sooner than you can imagine. Indeed, your thoughts should revolve around the target audience for whom any given advertisement is intended. If you consider the factors given above, there is no reason why you should not write a persuasive advertisement.
