Make Space For The New Panel

You need to think about making space for a new panel. Since the main electric terminal can be hot enough, even after being switched off, you need to avoid touching it. Do remember to shut off power to the primary breaker box and take off its cover. You can see a small circle inside in the side of that box. After keeping it aside, you should put a threaded nipple inside the box. At the other end of that threaded nipple, attach another breaker box. Make sure the box remains attached to the wall through heavy screws. Now you can attach the whole thing to the new panel.

Wiring The Thing

First of all, you need to remove the black wire from both of the breakers. This wire has a circuit which can be used to connect with the generator. You have to work with an insulated screwdriver for this purpose. When it’s done, remove that breaker from the panel and also remove both the white and green wires. Be sure to tape all of these three wires together. Strip the entire sheathing from the 10/4 cable and use it through the connection between the two boxes. Connect the green and white wires with the suitable buses in the panel and attach the black and red wires to a 30 am and 240 volts breaker and connect it with the main panel. You have to repeat the connection.

The Circuits

Extend the main wires from the circuits, in order to connect these with the main switch panel. Connect the white wire with the neutral bus, the green one to the ground bus and the black one to the breaker.

The Outlet

You will need more 10/4 cable to establish an outlet. Once you get hold of that, make sure to connect to the main receptacle for the entire generator. You have to attach the green and white wire to their buses and the black one to the 240 volts one.
