Plumber Training Courses 'offer Diverse Skills'

Young people in Canada hoping for a career as a tradesperson have been encouraged to take a plumbing training course at the College of New Caledonia, according to the Prince George Citizen.

The publication revealed that the college is set to run a new 21-week programme, which will lead to apprenticeship opportunities for those wanting to continue with their training and get work experience.

Learners will get the chance to specialise in plumbing, gas fitting, steam fitting and sprinkler fitting.

And instructor David Sewell commented that such courses could provide people with many different skills.

"Plumbing is probably one of the most diverse of the building trades and students should know there are a lot of different areas which they can specialise in," he said.

He added that much of the training "is common to other trades".

The Chartered Institute of Plumbing and Heating Engineering suggests prospective plumbers have a good understanding of maths and science and high levels of stamina.
