A smartphone is smart because of its smart features. With tough competition in the market, to outdo competitors, producers are evolving smartphones at a fast pace. The developers are continually working on new technologies to produce things that amaze consumers. Without new features and tweaks in the new products, it is hard to sustain in the market and satisfy consumers, who always want more of everything. In just two decades, smartphones have transformed into pocket fitting PCs and an inseparable part of human life. This evolution has set high expectations of people and they wait for new gadget launches desperately. This has compelled the producers to brainstorm and experiment to improve their product and fascinate probable buyers. The improved features of the phone make them look forward to the launch of it.

So, what new features can we expect to launch in the span of the next five to ten years? It is hard to predict exactly what we can expect as technology is evolving in a fast pace and creating products beyond our expectations. We can expect the development of ‘augmented reality’ in the coming times. It can give enhanced information that we can actually perceive using computer-generated sensory input such as sound, video, graphics and GPS data, in an interactive way. When available with the handy phones, it will be easier as we carry it everywhere. All we will need to do is point the camera of the phone somewhere ‘live’ to get an information overlay about places like the nearest cafes and the dining spots or the places to visit, etc. Some apps such as “Pokemon Go” support the ‘augmented reality’, but due to lack of reliable technology for recognizing places, things or people, it is not available on all the smartphones.

Along with augmented reality, we can expect flexible screens in the future. As the screens of these new editions of the best smartphones are getting bigger and bigger, people love to watch movies on big screen, but still want to be able to fit it in the pocket. It can be possible for screens to be folded and unfolded with the Organic Light-Emitting Diode (OLED) technology. With the use of this paper-thin screen, foldable screens can become a reality which can make a phone viewable from the both sides.
When the foldable and both side projection screen will not be enough, the latest mobile of future can come with an inbuilt projector to enhance the movie watching and gaming experience. We can also anticipate 3D screens and holograms on new devices. Holographic projections will mean a combination of 3D future-feature-smart-phones and projections from the smartphone, which will allow you to resize the photos by using your hands to ‘pull’ or ‘compress’ the holographic photos that appear in front of you and move objects by ‘grabbing’ them from one place to another, etc.
