Hmsi To Launch Africa Twin With Dct Automatic Gearbox In Mid-2017
First showcased at the 2016 Auto Expo, Honda Motorcycle and Scooter India (HMSI) will launch the Honda Africa Twin in mid-2017. The Honda Africa Twin will be made available with a 6-speed DCT dual-clutch automatic transmission. The adventurer tourer will be brought into India via CKD route. This could indicate that the price of the bike is likely to be competitive.
The two-wheeler maker has delayed the launch of the Africa Twin as it was working on training its workforce for assembling the CKD bikes in the country. It is also said that the automaker will localise a small percentage of the bike components, while the rest will be imported.
At present, Honda has the CBR650F in the performance segment in India and the highly-anticipated Africa Twin will join the 650F soon. The Honda Africa Twin is powered by a 998cc, parallel-twin petrol engine, producing 93 bhp of power and 98Nm of peak torque.
It will come with safety features like ABS as standard and traction control system with three stages. The ABS and traction control can be deactivated, while the ABS system comes with 2-channel - with rear ABS off switch. ...
... The Africa Twin will also feature an adjustable seat height, signature dual headlamps and tapered aluminum handlebar.
The motorcycle is expected to be priced around Rs. 13 to14 lakh, ex-showroom, in India. The performance bike will rival against the likes of the Triumph Tiger, the BMW 1200GS and the Ducati Multistrada Enduro in the 1000cc engine category.
