If you are having an artificial lawn, you will be required to put any kind of extra efforts for protecting and taking care of the lawn. You have to make sure that the turf of the surface is hard enough to endure any kind of weather. This is the reason why you should go for the artificial lawn which is easily available in Hedfordshire. There are a lot of people who can help you with setting artificial lawn in Hedforshire. But then if you wish to choose the DIY method, here are the steps for installing the artificial turf –

1. The first step involves removing the top level of the soil. Dig up 3 to 4 inches in order to create a space for the new layer. Remove all the grass and plants which you have kept in your garden. It is important as you have to make sure that they don’t create an uneven surface after they die.

2. Since the artificial turf should be permeable to water, you have to get some solid plants so that the drainage can take place easily. You don’t have to install a turf which has a badly drained soil or you will have to face a lot of problems eventually.

3. Install a waterproof ...
... border along the turf. This will help in making sure that there is water present on the turf always. The turf needs to be properly drained and maintained well.

4. Install a barrier so that there is no growth of weeds anywhere around the turf. In order to fill the area which you have excavated, start filling it with granite and rocks.

5. Use the landscaping rake in order to smooth the base material. Use the bubble level, string, and ruler so that you can grade the flat surface up to a 2-3% slope, sloping down to the drainage system or curb.

6. Sprinkle some garden hose in order to lubricate the gravel and the sand and prepare it for compaction. Use a plate compactor, roller compactor or a hand stamp for compacting the material and transforming it into a sturdy base. If you bring a vibratory plate compactor, it will be the most effective option for this process.

These were the steps which will help you to lay down an artificial turf. Just make sure that you take good care of the turf.
