In the past few years, modern transportation has gone through a tremendous change. After all, who wants to use big and bulky vehicles when you have portable and lighter modes of transportation? Moreover, would you still want to use fuel-driven vehicles when the fuel prices are constantly on the rise? No, right? This is why electric scooters are an amazing investment with regard to their efficiency, style, performance and eco-friendliness.

Having said so, you must also keep in mind that no great investment bears fruitful results all your life until you do enough to maintain it. So, you must properly take care of your segway scooter or any other scooter that you buy. No idea how to maintain your self-balancing drift scooter? Don't worry. Here are some maintenance tips that will help you improve your scooter’s performance and increase its longevity further:

Oil

Do you think electric scooters just require electricity to function effectively? You are highly mistaken. Clean oil is extremely important for these scooters as they keep the engine cool and lubricated. Therefore, as a rider, you should make it a habit ...
... to check the oil before riding. You can use a dipstick to measure the oil level accurately. Also, you must change the oil every 1,200 miles maximum.

Air filter

Do you know how the dust and debris of the road can weaken the engine and cause a detrimental decrease in the overall performance of the scooter? The dust the scooter accumulates on the road eventually clogs the air filter. So, it’s crucial to keep the air filter clean throughout the year. Inspect the filter for any sort of damage and replace it if it ripped. Take care when you are removing or replacing existing air filters.

Spark Plug

Does your scooter takes time to start or is quickly losing power? These are direct signals that your spark plug needs replacement. The spark plug plays an essential role in running the engine and ensures the scooter's potential is optimized. So, make sure you check and replace the plug on a regular basis.

Tires

The last thing you would want when riding on a highway is your tires to be blown out suddenly. So if you want to avoid risks of accidents or sudden breaking down of the scooter, check the proper amount of air pressure and pay attention to the overall condition of the tires. You can check the sidewalls of the tires for any signs of dry rot or crack. Usually, the tire pressure for all electric scooters should be 30-32 pounds per square inch for the front and rear tires.

Brakes

You must regularly stop and check the brakes of your normal scooter or self-balancing electric drift scooter for any signs of wear and tear or any sort of damage and see whether they can stop the scooter in motion. You can pull the hand lever when the scooter is moving to engage the brakes. Bleed the brake line to remove the trapped air. Check whether the brake pads are minimum 2-3 mm thick.

Battery

If your electric scooter, whether segway scooter or self-balancing, will be of no use without the proper functioning of the battery. Without the battery, the engine's ignition system will not get the requisite power. So, use a standard multimeter to check the voltage of the battery. The voltage should be between 12 and 13.4 volts when it is not in operation. You must immediately charge the battery when the voltage does not meet the minimum requirement.

A last and final tip that you must take note of is to know your self-balancing drift scooter well. As an owner, you should be the first one to feel if anything goes wrong and if you feel so, immediately investigate and resolve the issue as soon as possible. This is the golden rule of every maintenance procedure.
