Google’s New Symptom Search

A new feature of Google Search App will let users know more about their pertaining medical symptoms. When a user types in a specific symptom, Google shows them a list of related conditions. For a specific condition, like say, headache, Google gives an overview with few tips on self-treatment of the ailment. In case of a serious ailment, it would suggest that the user visit the physician nearby.
The list of symptoms were created by obtaining medical information from Google’s Knowledge Graph.
The company also has worked with a team of experts at Harvard Medical School and Mayo Clinic. This feature is currently being used in the United States of America in English. Google is looking forward to release it many other countries and in different languages very soon.
Google’s Project Manager, Veronica Pinchin, in her recent Blog Post said that one percent of the Google searches are symptom related. The health related content on the web is difficult to navigate and can tend to scare the users with unlikely conditions for very mild and common symptoms.
