No Engine Upgrades For New Subaru Levorg Sti

While awaiting the 2016 Subaru Levorg, Australia motorheads have been keen to know what upgrades will feature on the new Subaru Levorg STI. Unfortunately, for those interested in the high performance wagon, drivers will not experience a full STI experience, but instead will be offered an STi Sport.

The Real World Implications:

This announcement means that instead of being offered a heavily reworked overall package, the new Subaru Levorg STi Sport will be produced with selected STi parts at the factory.

With the STi variant Subaru Levorg for sale, Perth drivers will have the choice of a 1.6 litre or 2.0 litre engine. However, the STi Sport will not impact the engine changes, as the 1.6 turbo will still deliver 125 kW of power and the turbo WRX derived 2.0 litre engine produces 220 kW of power. There will also be no changes to the Lineartronic CVT automatic transmission available as standard.

The Subaru Levorg STi:

If you are considering the new Subaru Levorg STi, you will see that the model has a revised interior. Inside the cabin, there will be STi Sport Black and Bordeaux leather detailing ...
... on the seats, doors, and console. The model will also have a new and unique gear selector, red stitching on the steering wheel and STi door sill plates.

Outside, the STi badging has pride of place on both the front and rear of the Levorg. There is an STi grille and bumper, rear exhaust finisher and new multi spoke dark grey 18 inch alloys. The model will also be offered with WR Blue Pearl paint as an STi Sport exclusive.

Performance wise, the new Levorg has achieved STi sportiness using a clamp stiffener on the electric power steering system, Bilstein springs, and dampers on the front and rear, and DampMatic II suspension.

Equipment Specification:

The STi Sport variant of the new Subaru Levorg is also packed with gear and gadgets. The equipment list includes the EyeSight safety system, which incorporates stereoscopic cameras to monitor the road and provides lane departure warnings, collision warnings and mitigation, adaptive cruise control, autonomous braking and warnings if the vehicle in front moves.

Unfortunately, for Australia STi enthusiasts, the STi Levorg will not be offered here. The special edition has been produced specifically for the domestic market in Japan. Instead, we will need to wait for the 2016 Subaru Levorg. Australia dealerships are anticipating the arrival of the new Levorg range in the next few months, but there are likely to be more details released in the run up to its debut. So, for now, we will just have to wait and see.
