5 Favorite Indian Breakfasts

Breakfasts is the most important meal of the day. At least it should be. Having heavy breakfast ensure that you don't end up munching the entire day due to hunger pangs and therefore can cut off considerable calories. Also, in the morning, the body metabolism is the highest. So you can easily break down what you ate without giving it a chance to get deposited as fat. Anyways, today I have compiled four favorite breakfast dishes from the four corners of the country. Check them out.
1. Aloo Paratha from North- Aloo paratha is one of the most favorite breakfast dish in India. Though it is consumed almost in the entire country, yet it is most popular in Delhi-Punjab side and also originates from there. Wheat flour dough is stuffed with boiled, mashed and spiced potato, which is then rolled and grilled over skillet. The paratha is generally served with generous dollop of butter along with hot steamy tea.
2. Idli-Dosa from South- Though Idli and Dosa are two different items but since they are made from the same rice-urad batter and are served with same accompaniments, they are generally named together. Idli is rice cakes ...
... where rice-urad dal batter is poured into special pans and steamed. Dosa, on other hand, is prepared by making the batter a little more runny with water and spread over skillet and grilled. It is then rolled and served. Dosa is often served with various masalas inside its folds and are called Masala dosa. Both the items are served with sambhar made with toovar dal and vegetables and coconut chutney.
3. Poori-sabji from East- Though poori sabji is famous all over India, it is most famous is eastern India. Pooris are made by stuffing boiled and mashed pulses in wheat dough which are then rolled and deep fried. It is generally served with potato curry. Bengalis have their own version called Luchi-aloo chocchori, where luchi is made the same way as that of poori but prepared with maida(all purpose flour) and with any stuffing. Aloo Chocchori is potato curry made by pressure cooking cubed potatoes, tomato and green chilli together. It is tempered with kalonji (onion seeds).
4. Bun Maska from West- One of the most famous breakfast in Western India and specially Mumbai and adjoining areas. It is a Parsi dish adopted in its full form into Indian cuisine. Wheat dough are made into shape of ball and are steam baked making the upper crust crispy and soft inner meat. It is served with generous dollop of butter along with hot, steamy and super milky Irani chai.
