More and more people are now leaning towards working at the comforts of their own home. They want to resign from being a corporate slave and they want to get direct control over their working hours and numbers that appear on their paychecks. If you're one of them, I suggest that you start enhancing your writing skills and make money through article writing. Here's what you need to do:

1. First, determine how web articles are written. These articles are far different from newspaper and magazine articles. As you'll be serving online users, you've got to use how-to or question and answer formats. You also need to make your articles short (250-500 words), concise, and scannable. Of course, they must be very informative and they must be useful to the eyes of online users.

2. Do not plagiarize. If you think that you can get away with copying other articles posted online, think again. Most of your potential clients will surely test the originality of your articles using anti-content duplication software. You can use ezines, blogs, and websites as your resources but you've got to write your articles using your own words. ...

3. Learn SEO. Most people who are buying articles online are using these articles to add keyword power to their website. Thus, it's important that you know how to optimize your copies. I suggest that you read about SEO or search engine optimization. It would also help if you keep yourself posted on the algorithms of Google that can change anytime. Lastly, know what the acceptable keyword density is and the best keywords to target on your articles. Then you can use your articles to add keyword power to your website. Properly optimize your writings and ensure that they'll come up prominently on search engine listings. Post these on your website to improve your page ranking. This is very important as higher page ranking means more chances of attracting online users who are most likely to get interested on what you sell.

4. Join freelancing sites. Right now, there are several freelancing sites that you can take advantage of. I suggest that you read their terms of service and the amount of commissions they take for every project you win. Of course, you would want to go with those ones that charge less and those ones that are reputable.

5. Create an impressive profile and online portfolio. Give your prospective buyers a reason to choose you over other freelance writers. Start by creating a profile that speaks volume about your high level of skills and talent. It would also help if you create an online portfolio where your prospects will find your sample articles. I suggest that you submit articles on ezinearticles and that you create your own blog.

6. Bid accordingly. Visit the freelancing site you've chosen first thing in the morning. Choose the projects that you would like to work on and bid accordingly. If you don't have feedback yet, it's better if you charge a little less compare to established freelancers. This will increase your chances of winning more writing projects in no time.

7. Talk to your clients. Once you're able to win writing projects, the next thing to do is to communicate with your clients. Ask for detailed project description and don't hesitate to ask questions. It's important that you're clear with the requirements before you get started.

8. Impress your clients. You would want these people to leave a positive review on your profile. So, deliver only high quality articles and make sure that you deliver them on or before the deadline.

9. Distribute your writings. Marketing your writings online is the best way to generate traffic for your website. Post them on directories and ezines. Ensure that your writings have what it takes to impress your readers so these people will click through your resource box.
