In Search Of Natural Treatments For Atopic Dermatitis
Atopic Dermatitis, the most commonplace variation of Eczema, is a hereditary skin condition that makes the skin inflamed and irritated. In this condition the skin's cells disintegrate in an unprecedented manner that leaves the skin scaly and dry. Atopic Dermatitis in its initial stages is an itchiness of the skin that later becomes an inflammation. This inflammation gives way to the dry scales which are an indication of skin moisture loss. Persons suffering from the condition will often display minute bumps on the cheeks, forehead, and neck area. Plenty of treatment options are available for Atopic Dermatitis; many of these being pharmaceutical, but recent times have shown a progression towards the use of natural treatments.
The use of probiotics has been embraced in Atopic Dermatitis treatment and studies have shown that this is one way by which the condition can be effectively tackled. Probiotics, simply put, are the helpful bacteria that naturally exist in the human gut. To use them as treatment one can consume foods that contain them or alternatively buy them in the form of supplements. The most used probiotics in ...
... Atopic Dermatitis treatment are Lactobacillus GG, Lactobacillus reuteri, Lactobacillus rhamnosus, and Bifidobacteria lactis.
Atopic Dermatitis can also be treated via the use of GLA i.e. Gamma-linolenic acids. These are basically the essential fatty acids that are found in vegetable oils. The most commonly used GLA source is primrose oil which has been for ages used to curb body swelling. Research and tests carried out using this oil have indicated a good potential for eczema treatment and by extension Atopic Dermatitis. In these tests people suffering from the condition were seen to have a healthy reduction of the characteristic dryness, inflammation and itchiness associated with the condition.
Some of the other natural treatment courses for Atopic Dermatitis can be prepared from the safety of one's home. First amongst these is a mixture made from sandalwood paste and camphor. A teaspoon of each will suffice. The resulting paste is then applied on skin parts that have rashes and left there for half an hour or thereabouts. Alternatively one can prepare a paste using nutmeg and apply it in a similar fashion. These preparations have been found to lessen Atopic Dermatitis' peculiar itchiness. The skin should always be moisturized without fail and the style of clothing worn should not be too fitting.
Tackling the condition should also be done via an informed dietary regimen. As a basic rule, Atopic Dermatitis thrives with the use of citrus fruits, eggs and dairy products. A dermatologist's advice on this matter is however preferable.
