Voter sentiment describes the opinions, viewpoint or even the emotions the voters have towards a campaign or a political party. When a political party decides to put a candidate up for election they have to create an election campaign strategy. However, as with any other plan, the party must constantly make changes to their strategy to improve and strengthen it based on the change in emotions and voter sentiment.
Earlier, tracking voter sentiment used to take days after any major political debate or talk. However, now many of the news agencies themselves have devised new methods to do so. With the help of the internet it has become extremely easy to dissect through the noise and find out how the voters really feel about a candidate. The reason why it is so crucial for any political party to track the voter’s sentiment is to ensure that they message they are trying to proclaim to win the election is being heard and believed in.

But since the political party is not aware of it, they cannot amend themselves to it and increase their chances of winning the election. With USA preparing itself for another presidential election, through the news we see a number of candidates battling it out in hopes to win the election. Politics and the government aren’t the only parties interested in the election. From the advertising industry to major brands, every individual within the country and many from other countries are tuning in to see who will win perhaps one of the most controversial presidential race that America has seen till date.
As the candidate continue campaigning in different states of the country and participating in debates, one realizes how vital it is to track voter sentiment. Unlike in India, in the USA, the citizens are divided into democrats and republicans. Since there are only two parties, creating a strong campaign strategy which will be accepted and push the citizens to vote for the candidate is easier. With the help of voter sentiment tracking one can dissect through the thoughts of the citizens and do a study to understand what the voters truly expect from the campaigners. Using this information, the party is able fine tune their campaign and their core message to fit the sentiment of the citizens of different states.
One message can never be suitable for all voters. It needs to be reshaped and improved so that all voters can accept it and in the end vote for the candidate.
