Experiencing the test drive becomes all the more important when it comes to buying a brand new luxury car. Here is a checklist to remember while taking a new luxury car for a test drive.
Checking on the comfort level on the driver as well as passenger seats
Make sure that there is proper comfort on all the seats of the model being shown to you. The driver seat should be such that you are able to see traffic lights easily. You should be able to steer the wheel comfortably for a long time, and be able to see over your shoulder and have a clear view of the side road and also the rear end. Seats should be supportive to your sides and the front of the bottom cushion, along with a comfortable backrest and headrests. Headrests should be such that they do not push your head too far forward that will be uncomfortable while driving. Check if there is enough headroom and legroom for the adults in your family. Take a Mercedes Benz test drive and check all the nitty gritty that suits you.
Check whether all features are easy to operate
Check all the features available in the car and ...
... make sure that you are able to operate them smoothly even while driving in haste. Even with the same specifications, different cars run differently.
Ask for an extended test drive
Try to ask for an extended test drive, rather overnight if possible. A ere 20 minutes’ drive around the dealership area, won’t fetch you anything productive. Take the car to your home and see if it can be smoothly taken in and out of your garage.
Highway drive
Drive the car on a highway and check acceleration on the on-ramp, and make sure it is comfortable at freeway speeds. Check vibrations, tracking, power, and comfort.
In case of used luxury car:
Lift the hood and check for stains
Check for signs of leaks or stains in the hood liner, films of oil or dirt on the engine or surrounding parts. In case it got cleaned recently start the power of the car on and keenly observe it running with the hood up for quite a considerable time. Also check under space of the car for fuel leakage.
Checking on the tailpipe
Put a figure inside the tailpipe and check if it comes back as black or brown and dry. In case it’s bit oily, chances of engine problems are there, while in case you find slippery water chances of problem with the head gasket is predominant. Even in case of startup if there is a little smoke, there may (or may not be) issues with engine.
Engage a mechanic of your confidence
It is completely okay to take along your known mechanic while you are on a Mercedes Benz test drive who knows your car brand and functionality deeply so as to make you aware of all the tit bits.
